Apartment is in a second floor with private entry. Ocean view from balcony is awesome during summer, coconut tree around the house to remember you are in the caribean. Jibacoa Beaches and resorts are around the corner. A nice place to stay.
“The apartment is located in a tiny seaside village. Accomodations were top notch and great value. Yoani arranged taxis for us. Large apartment, lots of hot water, balcony with ocean view was exceptional. Be aware that the shoreline in El Fraille is all coral rock making it difficult and dangerous to get into the ocean, and if weather conditions are not right, it is unsafe to snorkel or swim. If looking for a laidback seaside experience with a view, this is a good place. Our first impression was that it would be a great place to write a book. We got used to the 4am roosters. Yoani generously brought up fresh bananas from her garden. She regularly checked to be sure we had enough towels etc. Kitchen is equipped, but there is nowhere to purchase groceries. There is a good restaurant down the street, El Rechino with above average food and great friendly service.”
The apartment is very spacious and comfortable, it has a beautiful view towards the beach.has equipped kitchen
“We really enjoyed visiting the house of Maida and Leonardo! Wonderful married couple! Maida kept the apartment in perfect cleanliness, changed clothes and a towel every day and took out the trash. A couple of times, Maida washed clothes for us in her washing machine and then neatly laid them out. Leonardo is an excellent conversationalist who can tell a lot about Cuba and suggest the nuances of life in Guanabo. The apartment is spacious, with a kitchen on which there is all the necessary utensils, a refrigerator, a TV, a separate bedroom with air conditioning, a hot shower and toilet and a terrace with a table and chairs. The apartment is located on the second floor of the house, the owners live on the third floor. The house is 350 meters from the ocean. There is a feature that tap water is very salty and difficult to drink (but you can wash everything), but you can cook soups, pasta and almost no salt on it. Drinking water was bought in a store (1 km from the house) for 1.9 CUC / 5 liters or 0.8 CUC / 1.5 liters. There is a small shortage of food in the city, so I advise you to bring cereals, pasta, cheese, sugar, salt, spices, yeast, flour, sunflower oil (here only soybean). Eggs sometimes appear in the shop. Vegetables and fruits are abundant in the Guanabo market (about 1 km from the house), they are inexpensive, prices per pound (1 lb (libra) = 450 grams), they sell for pesos cubanos (CUP), they weigh. I advise you to exchange money for pesos cubanos (CUP), they are accepted everywhere, it is more profitable to pay them on the market. Near the house, the bus stop A40, which goes to Havana (40 minutes - 20 km), costs 0.4 CUP. On the way back, the owners ordered an inexpensive taxi to Havana Airport (35 CUC - 50 km - 1 hour). Maida and Leonardo, thank you very much!”
Tere’s home is a two-story house in Santa María del Mar, just 20 minutes by taxi or bus from the historic center of Havana. It is the perfect spot for some rest and relaxation, surrounded by greenery and few other buildings and just 4 blocks (400 meters) away from the beach. Upstairs, there are air-conditioned bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, while the ground floor consists of a dining room, fully-equipped kitchen, 3 outdoor terraces, parking and a large garden with banana trees and plenty of flowers.
“YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS PLACE IN CUBA! Even if this place is certainly very different at first glance as you may know or expect it, it shows a very special face while staying at the Casa von Tere. TERE IS SO WONDERFUL! In addition to her wonderful coffee and lovely breakfast, it is above all the conversations with her that make this Cuba experience so special :) We were at the end of our road trip at Tere and it was the perfect accommodation for the last day and a half. Far away from the loud Havana and authentic in all facets. A little beach feeling included. We would recommend everyone to visit Tere and spend time with her comfortably! As a tip, she particularly likes strawberry jam, peanut butter, apple-cinnamon porridge and Fenner resin. She is also happy about the food she brought for her dog and cat.”
