“I don't know where to start if I've to write about this place. The stay is located in a small village called Kais which is on the way from Kullu to Naggar. The place is located a little uphill from the road and one can miss the place if they don't have a banner. We reached the stay around early morning and were welcomed with a bonfire and tea. Special mention to Kala didi. She makes wonderful Himachali food. She has a special chutney which you would never stop tasting again. I bet you! We asked for Himachi food all through our stay and we got more than what we expected. She made Bari, Siddu, Pahadi chicken which accompanies regular roti and rice. We have never had such tasty food anywhere in Himachal after our stay. There are two mud houses which need special mention. It keeps you really warm. We went in December where temperatures hit below 0 degrees and we hardly needed a blanket to keep us warm. We loved it. Don't expect greater amenities like Geyser and the attached washroom. You get tea and bonfire on demand. Kundan bhaiyya has a bike that can be taken on rent to roam around. It's an old home run by a lovely couple with all their hearts out. You'll be loved so much if you are here! We enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend anyone coming to Kullu.”
The Secret Cottage is located in the Himalayan village of Bandrol, eight kms ahead of Kullu, on the way to Manali, on NH21. The Secret Cottage overlooks the river Beas and is conveniently located to travel and explore the ‘Valley of Gods’.
“The Secret Cottage is a charming and spacious duplex amidst an orchard and right on the Kullu-Manali highway. Surrounded by the pomegranate and apple trees and the Beas river right beside the road, it makes you feel very close to the nature. And yet the location is such that you can get the local buses to either Kullu or Manali right outside the cottage. The property was squeaky clean and very comfortable. Huge personal collection of DVDs, books and board games were on offer. There was a reliable Wi-Fi connectivity as well. I was impressed by Deepak's responsiveness and his organizational skills. He shared files that had every possible information, be it cab driver detail, eateries around the cottage or how to plan sightseeing. It was very thoughtful of him to provide basic groceries like milk, eggs, bread, tea, coffee etc. so that we could prepare a meal . Suman, the caretaker of the property was an amazing cook and cooked dinner for us for the entire stay. There was a housekeeper too for tidying the house everyday. Not only Deepak has got a great property, he also has great people running the place. We decided to skip sightseeing for a day and watched movies, read books and engaged with Suman's children. We were so touched when one of the little ones gifted us two of her sketches. We also spent some time chatting with Deepak' mom. She generously offered us pomegranates and persimmon from the orchard. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would highly recommend Deepak's place. Will definitely visit again!”
The property is a home away from home. A peaceful location yet very near to the main Kullu Town. An ideal place to spend holidays. A beautiful view of the everflowing river Beas adds to the beauty of the location. Visit to various places of interest can easily be covered from this centrally located place.
“People, just book this without a second thought. I really don't know where to start. Right from the caring late night pick up from the bus itself to the personalised drop back to the bus after 12 days of my stay there, everything was fabulous. Their place at this price is a gem, spacious in every way, they match exactly the pics uploaded here on the site. The main bedroom is awesome, with views of the main valley and the Apple Orchards. In the Morning, I used to enjoy sunrise, with birds greeting me from the Apple Orchards. Ample spacious second bedroom, and a big clean washroom, with solar water heater and an added Geyser too. The major thoughtful touch was in the kitchen where in they had a geyser there too for the kitchen basin, this is called attention to minute details. The bed linen was clean, and was changed every 2-3 days, cleaning lady used to come up in every 2-3 days to do the stuff. Kitchen had every thing which a person may need to cook, even the spice box, tomato sauce, tea and sugar etc. The best thing was the shops are all nearby, just one turn downwards and there are all daily need shops, chicken shop, bakery, restaurants, a small Shaba and even the Bus stop. Buses are avail to and fro the main city and outside the main city as well. Yash uncle, her daughter, her daughter in law, are always just a call or message away. I wanted a secluded space, I got exactly what I needed, even the closeby market didn't interfere with my secluded space requirement. I cooked, I basked in the sun, I wandered and I cried when leaving the place. This place just makes u feel at an altogether different world.”
