Kibbutz Lotan is located only 30 min from Eilat in the beautiful Arava Desert surrounded by the Edom mountains. We have mud domes available for staying in and we are excited to host people from all around the world and show how life is in our Kibbutz. Breakfast at the Kibbutz dining hall is included (vegetarian) in the price. Afterwards you can enjoy our famous Eco Tour which demonstrates how we live in harmony with the land using organic and permaculture principles & alternative technology.
“This kibbutz is really interesting and the mud building is amazing. They use tremendous creativity and have come up with fascinating systems for daily living. Plus, everyone is friendly and welcoming. I even got to make a mud brick and a great tour:) My only downside to this trip is that a resident of the eco-farming program was walking around outside my dome room completely naked and nobody else around her (a group of the other eco-residents) seemed to notice/mind. It seems that this is something the resident does often as she was sitting outside in the hammock area and chatting on the phone for almost 2 hours outside my room with several other people with her. The kibbutz should tell residents to keep clothes on or warn guests beforehand about nudity as I would NEVER go to a nude place. If I had known in advance that I would see this extremely disturbing site then I would not have come. Because of this resident, I was stuck in my dome room hours earlier than I wanted bc I couldn’t go back out due to wanting to avoid this resident and seeing her again. If I would have known I would see this, then I would have stayed away and booked elsewhere. Another thing that came up is that my key when I came was stuck in the outside of the door and wouldn’t budge no matter how hard I tried. I don’t know if they did it that way on purpose or if it was just stuck (they told me when I came that the key is outside the door to room 10 and it wouldn’t cone out). I didn’t feel safe sleeping with the door unlocked with a naked person right outside my room who was making me extremely uncomfortable. If and only if the management will address this issue, then I would recommend this kibbutz as a cool place to visit where you will see how life is run in a way that is creative and eco-friendly.”
Private room with private entrance in Be'er ora only 15 min from EILAT ,Nice and quiet village perfect place near hiking/biking trails.
“Cozy, newly renovated room in a sleepy desert town. Easy access to Eilat by bus, 5 minutes drive from Ramon airport, and access to hiking trails by foot. There is a small store across the street to buy food and other supplies. The hosts are super nice and drove us to and from the room to where we needed the bus. Highly recommended!!”
the 1 bedroom apartment is located in be'er ora 10 minits from eilat. the apartment facing a beautiful view of mountains, in the middle of the desert. there is many routes in the nature right near by. there is a local bus to go and return to eilat.
“Very clean and exceptionally well furnished room. I really enjoyed my stay there as it was very close to Eilat (approx. 30 minutes to the center) and other activities in the desert. Very well worth a stay when you are in the area and do not want to be in busy Eilat.”
