It is a house completely made of wood, with natural lighting, surrounded by trees, large windows and beautiful views on all sides. You feel the smell of cedar and you can be barefoot enjoying the contact with the wood. You can hear countless birds and almost every day you can see monkeys and other wild animals, from the windows.
“WOW!! I have to say, if you want a rustic, small farm town, true Costa Rican experience I highly recommend staying here! Listen to all the tips Hernan has, in terms of stopping at a super market and taking the right road for 2x2 vehicles. We went in a little Honda and didn’t make it the way maps took us and had to go around, but Katia was patiently waiting for us. The tour with the neighbor and horseback riding is highly recommend, it’s like no other horseback riding you’ll ever do & he takes you to a secret waterfall and tours his beautiful little family farm. We were able to see various monkeys, birds and livestock (including a one day old calf). The cabin itself is gorgeous but fair warning keep all bright lights off at night as there are many bugs (big ones) and it can be kind of frightening. The wind was strong our second night so I didn’t sleep well as the food is tin but otherwise all the basics are there and the cabin is just in awe. When we come back to Costa Rica, we will stay here again. Beautiful place with real wholesome people around!! Also the sunset over the valley, beats any ocean sunset, it’s absolutely GORGEOUS! Thank you so much for this experience in which we will forever cherish. I will recommend anyone to come here! A true hidden gem. PURAVIDA!”
My name is Gaetan and I am a Belgian tour guide. I am a french and spanish speaker. I have my own nature rooms that I propose to tourists. My wife and I are pleased to welcome you in our simple but amazing place. We make our best to offer you the best stay we can. After more than 15 years working as a personal guide, I know the Costa Rica as it's my own country. For any recommandations do not hesitate to contact me.
“The place is very very unique and designed for folks like me who love nature, wild life and adventure. It is not for the typical touristy types who like convenience and luxury. It is real! You will need a four wheel drive to get to the place which is about 1.6 miles from the main road. It is the very last house on that road. The cabin has a single room with a bath room and the kitchen is outside, including the frig. and the gas range (single flame). I believe that everything in this house is designed and made by the host Gaetan and everything is both artistic and practical. I liked the fact that the water was not mildly warm. Every morning at 7:00 Gaetan's wife would bring four eggs for us and we prepared it ourselves. At night the sound of the wind and sometimes the rain on the roof caused me to cuddle into the blanket and appreciate the fact that I am protected by the four walls. Every morning before dawn I sat on the bench to wait for the light that after some hesitation crawled in very quickly. The place transformed me.”
The Cocoa Farm Finca La Amistad is located near Tenorio National Park and the village of Bijagua, in the north of Costa Rica. You will love my accommodation because of cocoa and chocolate, Birdwatching, atmosphere, outdoor space, comfortable bed, Tenorio National Park and Rio Celeste. My accommodation is good for couples, solo travelers and families (with children).
“Wow! If you want to stay a night before or after the hikes to El Rio Celeste, this is the perfect place to stay. In the middle of the Cacao Farm, everyone is very nice and do everything as you can enjoy your stay as much as possible. The breakfast is included in the price of the room and it’s really a big one made its good products. You can also enjoy the Farm Tour at 8:30 in the morning, which is also included with the room, and learn how they managed the plantation and prepare the Cacao beans. You can have diner as well for 15$ per person and it’s very well appreciated since the farm is a bit far from the restaurants. The only thing is that you will need a 4x4 car and be ready to drive on damaged tracks to reach the place. Thank you to all the team for your warm welcome!”
