A very clean, comfortable room with a private entrance, private bath, king-sized bed, beautiful view, great natural light, and a private deck overlooking the forest and wetlands with the bay in the distance. Included are a large private bathroom with a Jacuzzi bathtub, a kitchenette with a refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, WiFi, TV with cable. We’re a small working llama farm only a 4-mile drive from the ocean in a rural setting overlooking a Nature Conservancy.
“Amazing place, it sits on five acres that has an amazing view of forest. The lamas are so cool and a herd of elk must live somewhere close because we saw at least one herd twice or two different herds. The host have thought of a lot. The closets place for food is about 5 miles away but that’s ok because host had snacks and quick things that could tide you over if you needed. The place had a private balcony that over looked the back farm and the forest. So you could see the elk from the deck or the lamas. The back of the house over looks part of the lamas pasture. You could also see the back from the gigantic sliding glass door. The bathroom is very large as well, which is nice for getting ready in the morning if there is two of you or more. The WiFi worked great for planning your day in town and they have dish for when you want to unwind after a day of sight seeing.”
Seal Rock is small village on HWY 101 just south of Newport. The Red Door Cottage is just 500 steps from the State Park and 600 to ocean's edge. Equipped with free Wi-Fi and has a lovely back deck, and firepit in back yard. Pets are not allowed.
“What a great find! I doubt you will find a better value in the area. Timothy's communication and hospitality was fantastic. The cottage is clean and has everything you would need. It's not beachfront but close enough to hear the ocean and be to the beach within a few minutes walk. We made it even faster by making a nice run out of it. It was a nice mix of hills, trails, and amazing beach! We actually ended up really liking it being tucked away a little bit. The cottage is small and quaint but laid out well with two nice bedrooms. Would be great for a family. It was my high school aged daughter and I this trip and there was more than adequate space. We were here to visit colleges. It was a perfect location to act as base camp over the weekend as we played on the coast before doing our tours during the week. I was originally looking in the Newport area but so glad I found this. We walked across to the street to State Park numerous times where we had miles of beach to ourselves. We visited Newport, which was nice with more to do, but definitely full of tourists. Was so amazing to be able to come back to the quaint cottage and relax after long days of playing on the beach. Thanks Timothy for sharing your home and this spectacular part of the country.”
Come to historic Nye Beach! Our little cottage is a short walk to anything you want; the beach, Newport Performing Arts Center, brew pubs and restaurants, and an array of quaint boutiques. The cottage is simple but clean and self-contained. It has a super comfy queen bed (memory foam topper) in the bedroom and a full size futon in the living room (which comes with an extra pad for comfort). Buy groceries (the store is just a few blocks away) and cook your own meals in our fully equipped kitchen. Bring your dog, your kids or just yourselves for a relaxing beach get-away!
“Just as described. Walking distance to everything we wanted to do in Newport. 11 minute walk to Nye beach. 16 minute walk to the bayfront. There are hills in each direction, very characteristic for the area, so not exactly a leisurely walk. On and off street parking. The space is in what seems to be a converted garage. Ample space. Second hand furniture and wares were just fine for our needs. There were extra blankets. Only two regular pillows so I recommend bringing your own. We didn't bring our dog, but it was definitely dog friendly. There were no traces of pet fur or smell whatsoever. There were some dog toys and treats provided, which was very sweet. The heater is in the livingroom so the bedroom may get cold with the door closed. Same with bathroom. Everything you need to prepare full meals is provided. The folgers coffee and little snacks were a thoughtful touch. They even had a variety of seasonings and coconut oil pan spray. The tap water was good to drink. We accidentally fell asleep on the futon, which is not for the faint of heart. It's fine for kids and young people. Great movie selection for our cold nights in. From Harry Potter to 007. The only sound heard from nextdoor was water. Make sure to turn the dehumidifier on while you're gone. It makes a huge difference. It's one of the quieter ones I've heard. A lot of information in the binder for anything locally you'd want and need from food to entertainment. We will stay here again and recommend to friends.”
