Your holiday at Avasara Residence begins with an airport transfer and continues with chef and butler service and daily breakfast. You’ll want to spend most of your stay on the terrace by the gleaming infinity pool, which is surrounded by a row of lounge chairs and sunbeds and even a whimsical sculpture. Flip on the outdoor sound system and serve drinks at the swim-up bar, or try out local specialties on the barbecue and sit down at the al-fresco dining area. If you want to learn more about the local cuisine, take a Thai cooking lesson; if you’d rather relax, enjoy a massage or yoga session instead.

Glass-walled pavilions topped by peaked roofs make the most of the natural scenery and lush landscaping by renowned designer Bill Bensley. Along with the wood-paneled ceiling in the great room, fiber rugs and wicker sofas add natural texture, while poppy-red accent pillows and decorative sculptures fill the space with color and personality. The generous indoor dining area can seat up to ten guests, and the fully equipped, state-of-the-art kitchen also has a breakfast bar for more casual meals.

Each of the five bedrooms at Avasara Residence has en-suite bathroom; two of the suites open to the balcony as well. As in the great room, creamy tile floors, natural-fiber rugs and woven chairs create a neutral backdrop, while brilliant red throws and accent pillows add happy pops of color.

While it’s tempting to stay by the pool at Avasara Residence, it’s well worth making the 3 km drive to Bophut Beach, the 7 km drive to Chaweng or Maenam beaches, the 16 km drive to Lamai Beach or the 20 km drive to Nathon Beach, whether to wade in the shallows or relive your honeymoon with a romantic stroll. And from Fisherman’s Village, the Big Buddha Temple and the town of Chaweng to the Nathon and Koh Samui piers, the Koh Samui Rainforest, the Nathon Night Food Market and Namuang Safari Park, there’s plenty to see and do in the area. When it’s time to leave, plan on a 9 km trip from the villa to Samui Airport.
