“We had amazing time at Marian and Catalina’s place. They have a great sense of hospitality, helped with everything and more (tour on the Danube, mythical fish soup and practical help). We would definetly recommend their house to anyone as the best place to visit the incredible Danube delta. We would put six stars if we could !”
Designed with reclaimed furniture from the local people and traditional accents, the room is situated right near the Delta water canals.

“We found everything we were looking for and even more in our stay in Maljuc. Iulian and his family are very friendly, hospitable, well-organized and patient people. We arrived in Tulcea 2 hours late (not our fault, but due to exceptional traffic problems), and we had not booked dinner ... Iulian solved everything without getting too agitated: he found us an alternative taxi boat to what we should have taken, and for dinner he improvised a good plate of pasta. On the following nights, instead, Ioanina, Julian's wife, cooked us fresh Delta fish. We tasted new recipes with fish that we don't usually eat, such as the catfish, the bream and the pike perch, but we also ate the finest perch, and we found ourselves very well with these tastes unknown to us. The bedroom is small, sober, just right to sleep on good mattresses, warmed by a soft duvet. To read, talk and watch TV, there is a large and well-equipped kitchen available to guests. Or, with the sun, you are very good outdoors (at the end of April we didn't find mosquitoes). We came to the Danube Delta to shoot it by boat, and here are the most positive notes. Iulian introduced us to Gabriel, a very experienced gamekeeper in the area, who with his motor boat for three days transported us to lakes and canals of great beauty. In this lonely paradise at times it seems to be in the African lakes, where thousands of birds take flight at our passage, or look at us a little alarmed from the top of trees with branches overflowing with nests. We are passionate about nature photography, and we took very nice photos of it. I cannot list the species we have seen, because it would be too long, but there are certainly a good number of sea eagles among the birds, and among the mammals the fleeting appearance of a golden jackal intent chasing a pheasant. The added value of going around with Gabriel is that, for a really reasonable price, there was only us on his boat. This involved the possibility of sitting in a privileged position for sightings, and being able to interact well with Gabriel. On the day of departure we were a bit melancholy. Here also the people of the shabby village of Maljuc, enters your heart. The owner of the grocery store has been a carer in Italy for several years. It was nice to spend time with her listening to her stories of attachment to this isolated place, surrounded by nature, where you feel that you lack contact with the land, but that it is impossible to give up.”
