“We have stayed in Airbnb’s all over the world, and Khalid and his riad in Marrakech is the BEST experience we have ever had with Airbnb. He is a gem and a true super host. First, about Khalid: warm, gracious, and very responsive and helpful at every step of the process. He arranged a driver to meet us at the airport and that was included in the price. He is a kind, knowledgeable and helpful host who was exceptionally communicative. He prepared a delicious Moroccan breakfast for us every day, answered our questions , practices Arabic with us, arranged sightseeing trips for us outside the City and met us personally at arrival and checkout. Your own personal 5-star concierge—seriously. We mean it—the best (and we have had some truly great Airbnb spaces and hosts over the years). Next, Khalid’s place: immaculate, charming, comfortable with three full floors, including the sunny and private roof deck. Even in chilly January we were able to enjoy the sunshine. The unit is very quiet and peaceful, even though the hustle and bustle is steps away. The beds and pillows are quite firm but the comforters very soft and cozy. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the bathrooms were all spotless. City water pressure is not the greatest but we had nice hot water. The riad is not heated but does have a wood burning fireplace and space heater for bedroom. When our space heater broke, Khalid replaced it with a new one the same day. The riad option is so much nicer than a hotel. The location: again superb. Down a quiet alley way, it is near a Royal Palace in the Dar El Bacha neighborhood. This neighborhood has more local shops than tourist shops so it’s a bit more authentic. It’s a good 15-20 minute walk to Jemma al Afna square, but every route to get to the square is interesting, colorful, and bustling almost from the moment you leave Khalid’s alley. Taxi’s are easy to find. Getting to the main square during the day was easy, but getting home after dinner at the night market (a must!) was sometimes a challenge as with the shops close you lose your landmarks, and google maps is not very accurate in the Médina, so prepared to get lost. From Khalid’s, it’s an easy taxi to Yves-Saint-Laurent Museum and gardens—a must. We loved El Badi palace and Palais Bahia—Saadi tombs was ok but that’s one to skip if you are pressed for time. There is so much to see and do. Khalid arranged a day trip for us to Ouzoud Waterfalls and we had a great driver and Berber guide once we were there. Marrakech is generally safe everywhere we went—just don’t let someone try to guide you home. Ask a shop owner and don’t meet the street touts hustle you. We had a wonderful visit thanks to Khalid’s attentiveness and the charming riad. Book now. We will be back!”
WELCOM My treat and treasure, this Riad has been growing and blooming for the past 10 years, putting in by bits and pieces all my love and passion for local craft work and arts, flea markets, washed out colors, rituals and culinary delights, collecting objects and furniture, re-creating and renovating and putting everything together to create a unique spot, which allows an experience away from tourism and vacation “stress" only a few steps from local life, a former refuge for me, now to be shared for with friends and world travelers passing by, design lovers, creatives, foodies and adventurers – an oasis of space and chilling out in the middle of a mingling local area in the ancient medina of Marrakech. WHERE YOU CAN FIND US: In love with the eastern part of the medina, which remains the most authentic quarter with little tourism and only few guest houses, this part of the Marrakech Medina made it the perfect spot to set up this shelter and to experience colorful street markets, surrounded by the real buzzing local everyday life. only a 15-20min walk takes you to the main square DJMA EL FNAA, passing through the colorful labyrinth of the souks. THE SPACE The total surface of about 280m2 offers a patio with a dip-in and refreshing pool of 4m x 2m, living & dining room, open kitchen, chill out balcony on the 1st floor with view into the patio, 3 optional bedrooms, of which each has its own bathroom & WC. for any special room request please leave a note in your booking. the top floor is featuring a big roof terrace for sun bathing and a chimney corner for cozy nights. in hot summer nights we set up a bed under the stars.* THE SERVICE The space is listed only on AIRBNB, which in its original purpose offers a platform of private spaces for rent. a lot of people tend to forget this, so here a small reminder, that LA MAISON is a private house and not a fully serviced BED AND BREAKFAST RIAD or GUEST HOUSE. depending on your booking and number of guests you are always having the Riad in privacy, but you might not have all bedrooms available. to make things more comfortable and easy for you though, LA MAISON is being partly serviced, a little bonus in the package ;). our caretaker comes every day from 8.00-13.00 to make breakfast at whatever time you wish, sweeps around the main areas and supplies you with everything you need, just ask her whatever seems to be missing or to be replaced. Bed sheets and towels are supplied as well as a generous breakfast. there is a hairdryer available. SHUTTLE A pick-up from the airport or local station can be organized. We are collaborating with several trustworthy shuttle companies, our drivers are reliable, on time and know the location of the house. the shuttle will take you to the closest possible drop-off point depending on your arrival time, from where we can arrange a luggage carrier to guide you the last meters to LA MAISON. the transport charge is between 150-250,- dirhams for a one way airport shuttle. PHOTOS & PHOTO SHOOTING in La Maison You are most welcome to take photos around the riad to document your stay and to keep for your own pleasure and posterity. AROUND THE HOUSE The area is a very lively, buzzing local quarter, a bit “rough around the edges” living amongst the locals & being surrounding by their daily lifes & habits. from there the entire medina is walkable, just to give you an idea of some starting points to explore the city: -JEMAA EL FNA main square 15-20 min walking -PHOTO MUSEUM 10min -MEDERSA BEN YOUSSEFF, coran school, 10 min -MUSEE DE MARRAKECH 12min -THE MAIN SOUKS 15min -BAHIA PALACE and FERBLANTIER SQUARE 15min -LE FONDOUK beautiful restaurant with roof terrace, 10min TRUST Bringing local moroccan boys or girls to guest houses for various purposes during day time and/or overnight is strictly forbidden by law and can engender penalties, legal pursuit, but most of all losing our good reputation in the neighborhood. please kindly take this in consideration before booking LA MAISON. To inquire for availability please send me a message in advance. The most comfortable capacity is a group or family of 4, though we offer space for 6 guests (3 double rooms). FAVORITE SPOTS - "COUPS DE COEUR" I will be supplying you with my list of “FAVORITE SPOTS/ COUPS DE COEUR" or any other information you might need for in and around Marrakech to add this stay to some unforgettable travel memories.**
“THE BEST TRAVEL EXPERIENCE EVER. I travel A LOT and this experience was unforgettable. I saw La Maison on Instagram a year ago and I fell in love with it. As soon as we decided to travel to Marrakech, my first thought was to book La Maison. The communication with Nicole before our trip was very good. She arranged a driver for us to pick us up at the airport. We were too early to check in, so the driver dropped us off at Café El Bacha (sooo good) and took our bags with him to the Riad. When it was time for us to check-in, he came to pick us up and dropped us at the Riad. We opened the door of the Riad and my jaw dropped ‘WOW’. It was everything I dreamed of and even prettier in real life. Hanane welcomed us with open arms. She is the nicest, kindest person ever. She makes THE best breakfast ever, I still dream about the breakfast 😍 and gives the best service. Every night she comes to put on all the candles in the Riad, so when you arrive home, the house is filled with burning candles. The Riad was BEAUTIFUL, everything was sooo clean and the interior was breathtaking. I couldn’t stop taking pictures 😂🥰 This an experience to never forget ♥️”
K'bour & Chou is our Riad in Marrakech, with an interior garden and courtyard just within the walls of the medina. Discover a unique luxurious oasis of peace and serenity, offering a perfect blend of authentic Morocco and an eclectic mixture of styles and characters.
“Egon and his team know how to receive guests, spoil them and make them feel at home in the distance - this is always unobtrusive and personable. The riad is architecturally and interior-style very inviting, the lush greenery a dream and birdsong trigger. If you still have too little fauna with the birds, you will be happy at the latest when you see the free-roaming turtles, cats and dogs. On the sunny roof terrace you would like to forget everything - if it weren't for the delicious breakfast, which you can enjoy with a view. The crew would also be happy to organize trips to the Atlas etc. You could also dine on site - but we didn't do that. The door to the riad is a bit hidden when you first search, but the team would also pick you up and guide you at an agreed location nearby. We will be back!”
