In 1856, an English stonemason, Thompson Priest, began mining slate in Mintaro. At the same time, he built a home with stables at the rear of his property. Over the intervening years, the stables fell into a desperate state, however, recently, the Stable has returned to life through a sensitive restoration and refurbishment. Set on the edge of Reillys Winery, the Stable is a 100m walk through the vines to the cellar door and further 20 metres to the renowned Magpie Stump Hotel.

Flinders Family Getaway

This light and airy cottage is within walking distance to all the town facilities. It's a comfortable place for the whole family. You'll love the walks you can take after dinner and the rumpus room is the perfect place to sit by the Pot Belly Fire and watch a movie. If you're into mountain bikes, Melrose is one of the best attractions in South Australia. If you don't have a bike, you can hire them in town. We are in the Southern Flinders Ranges with National Parks within easy reach. Pt. Germein is an historic Port town with 1.3 km wooden jetty, perfect for fishing and crabbing. The cottage is located in the grounds of St Clement's Anglican Church circa 1863 now a private residence. Only 23 kms from major rural city of Pt. Pirie. Cottage is self contained and would be described as bright and fresh set in an Australian native garden with undercover car parking.
