At the third floor of an old building between the tower-house of the Donatis (XII-XIII century) on one side, and the oldest “Torre della Pagliazza” (VI century) on the other side, is the apartment Gioia (pedestrian area), with its charming view over Dome and Giotto tower.
Most of the town was built during the Reinassance but this area manteins a medieval atmosphere, with its typical entaglement of old narrow streets.
Close to it is “Via dei Calzaioli”, the ancient set of armourers and now the goal of evening walk of Florentines, and “Via Tornabuoni” with the most elegant shops in town. Nearby you can find the characteristic flea market, and lots of little groceries, bakeries, wine shops and cafes.
