The space

CityWood in The Gables is considered the Best Whistler Village Rental location for good reason, this village central property is bordered on one side by the crisp, clear mountain fed Fitzsimmons Creek and is totally surrounded by beautifully big BC Evergreens. A picturesque covered pedestrian bridge directly behind the property provides scenic passage over Fitzsimmons Creek and direct access to parks, trails, and the Village Stroll where you can shop, dine and people watch. Blackcomb chair lifts are only a flat 100 meter walk, Whistler Gondola only 250m away. In the summer time an outdoor market and adventure park sets up directly across the street. All in all there is not a better Whistler village location to set up your home base while enjoying everything that Whistler has to offer. Park your vehicle and leave it. Did I mention the parking is free:) Fully renovated, CityWood is designed and outfitted to comfortably accommodate up to 6 people in 3 bedrooms on 3 queen size beds +plus there is a super comfortable queen pullout sofa bed in the living room.
Open kitchen, dining and living room on main floor ensures great flow whether making a quick breakfast before hitting the slopes or enjoying a gourmet diner and drinks after an adventure filled day. Bedrooms 1 & 2 are located upstairs along with a full bathroom featuring heated floors, soaker tub & shower.
The cozy 3rd bedroom is located off the living room on the main floor and is directly across from a full bathroom with heater floors and awesome overhead rain can shower head.
A cleverly designed front entry with convection heater doubles as a drying room with customizable hooks & baskets to hang and air dry all your outer wear (jackets, pants & gloves). A boot dryer is stored under the bench. The front entry accommodates skis and boards in winter and includes 2 vertical bike mounts to safely store two bikes in summer.
Kitchen Amenities incl.: Convection Range, Microwave, Fridge w/ freezer, Dishwasher, Single serve K-cup coffee & hot chocolate machine, French Press Coffee maker, Whistling stove top kettle, Carafe style drip coffee machine, toaster, blender.

We take pride in our home and enjoy sharing our local knowledge & experience with guests, whether it be a tour of the village, a mountain adventure, or just some friendly advice where to eat.

Everything in the village is accessible by foot from CityWood in The Gables but if you want to take a bus the public transit routes run along Blackcomb Way which is directly out front our parking lot. You can literally hop on a bus 75 meters from your door. Taxis are plentiful and a ride from Citywood to anywhere in Whistler village is less than $10.

Guest access

Our home is equipped with a Keypad Access Control system so keys are not used to gain access to our home. Each Booking Guest is electronically sent a unique Access Code that will work for the exact duration of their stay.
Free parking is provided for two vehicles.
One Underground Parking space as well as one ground level exterior parking space is included with the rental. A key to access the Parking Garage as well as a Parking Pass for the exterior Parking space are hanging on a hook in the front entry of our home.
There is a 20 minute loading zone directly in front of our unit, so upon arrival you can unload the car, go inside, get the parking pass and/or garage key then park the car.
* You Must display parking pass in the vehicle parked in the exterior parking lot. Tow trucks aggressively patrol this area looking for unauthorized parked vehicles, be careful & remember to use the parking pass while staying with us AND Please return it to our home prior to departing.

Interaction with guests

We interact with our guests as much or as little as our guests prefer. We live full time in Whistler and are active in and around the community. We are always happy to offer helpful tips and guidance especially with respect to local activities such as hiking, biking and skiing as well as dining and shopping. We often accompany guests on hiking, biking and ski tours to show them some of our favourite spots and can help out with the odd piece of equipment if they forget something.
To make the guest experience as autonomous as possible we have equipped our property with a keypad access control system and each guest is emailed property information that includes a unique access code for their stay; The unique access code provides guests with keyless access to the property and eliminates the stress and challenge of trying to schedule a specific arrival time to exchange keys etc...

We do however try to make ourselves as accessible as possible throughout our guests stay in order to provide assistance if and when required.

The neighbourhood

Situated in the heart of Whistler village, the Best Whistler Rental Location offers the best of both worlds. First off it is a home that is completely surrounded by nature, including a secluded wooded park area, the spectacular and naturally flowing Fitzsimmons Creek, a pedestrian only walkway with covered bridge to and from the upper and main village areas.
Ski lifts, restaurants, shops, lessons, guides, child care, ski & bike rental, etc are within 100meters of our front door. Truly the best of both worlds.

CityWood is "directly" across from the Upper Village where the Whistler Blackcomb ski & mtn bike school is run. Ski & Bike lessons for all age groups as well as child care services are located right across the street for the ultimate convenience.
In summer the open air Whistler Farmers' Market set up across the street. Featuring tasty artisan foods, local artists, refreshing beverages and live entertainment, the markets are a great day out for the family. Open twice a week throughout the summer, the markets are the perfect place to find food for a picnic or a unique present for someone special.

The Adventure Zone also set up shop directly across the street. A fun filled Activity zone for families of all ages. Includes:

Getting around

Getting around Whistler is simple. The Whistler transit system provides year-round public bus service throughout Whistler and between Whistler Village and Pemberton.

For walking and cycling, Whistler's commuter backbone is the Valley Trail which runs past the perimeter of our property. Valley Trail is a 35-km/22-mi multi-use trail that begins at Spring Creek, in the south, extends through the Village itself and ends at Emerald Estates in the north.

Whistler Public Transit
Buses service most areas in Whistler. In spring and summer the buses are equipped with bike racks. There are free shuttle buses that operate between Whistler Village hotels and the ski lifts; in the summer there is free service between the Village and Lost Lake. Bus route run along Blackcomb Way with a bus stop on the street directly in front of our property.
Taxis are abundant throughout the village as well.

It is certainly a pleasure to say how wonderful our stay in the Derek’s townhouse was. It turned out to be exactly as depicted on the website, with wonderful amenities. The living room and dining room were comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped, the bedrooms comfortable, the building well-maintained and quiet. All was spotlessly clean and the linens and towels generously supplied. The townhouse could not be better located between the villages of Whistler and Blackcomb. I would definitely return.

This is an ideal location for Whistler. It was our first time there and was super convenient to the Whistler base as well as Blackcomb base which is slightly closer. Derek had great communication throughout the trip and everything was clear and easy to manage. House was beautiful, comfortable and nicely appointed. A welcome basket and grocery essentials welcoming us was a really nice touch. Would absolutely stay here again - hard to beat.

Derek and Angela's condobwas perfect for our stay in Whistler with our 14 year old daughter. It was easy walking distance to the gondolas and to the Village. The kitchen was stocked with fresh French bread as well as milk, juice, cereal, fruit and everything we could have wanted. We would highly recommend this condo!
