Blackbeard's Treasure might not be here, but you will make treasured memories! The WIE Village is unique in many ways...made from mostly local OBX re-purposed materials, combined with charm, accommodate 2 to 10 people. Two pods & main house borders 1600 acres of nature preserve within 2 mi of the beach. To accommodate larger parties, reserve Pod Messi &/or Pod Zeus in addition to Main House. These listings can be found under my profile!

The space
COVID-19 Friendly - Separate Entrance, Routine cleaning & Sanitized Space! This house is a combination of mostly re-purposed wood from several houses, that have been torn down to make room for bigger beach houses. It has a fantastic beachy feel to it, and though it has a small footprint the feeling is spacious. Includes a fireplace to take the chill off.
The WIE House is SO very unique it made it into the 2016 OBX Parade of Homes...learn more about the amenities and layouts by Googling "Parade of Homes OBX 2016" and go to House #11 !
Look forward to having you to one of the most unique properties you will ever stay in!!!!

Guest access
You will have the whole main house to yourself and your guests, including GOURMET Kitchen with a drip-style coffee maker!
You will also have access to the sound (weather permitting) and a tandem kayak. (The kayak is available on a first-come first-serve basis as it can be used by any guests staying at the WIE Village.)

Other things to note
This is a beautiful waterfront location, and it may change your attitude for ever. Below is the story behind the WIE Village !
With green building in mind, we look to reuse and re-purpose materials that are left over from building large homes to create The WIE House. The first WIE House location is in an environmentally critical area, The Outer Banks (OBX) of North Carolina.

This concept is not unique to the OBX, as we would like to see it grow to any location where there are leftover materials on the job-site. Whether it be a remodel job or new construction, the benefits to this project are the use of leftover building materials, resulting in less forest destruction, filling of landfills, all while cutting expenses for all involved!

The WIE House is small in physical size, but big in quality of living. The WIE House is built to be as maintenance-free, and as energy-efficient as possible; including environmentally friendly items such as, metal roofs, rain water wine barrels to water landscaping, passive solar energy to maintain all exterior lighting, and all permeable walkways to prevent runoff to name a few!

A walkway will wind you up to the house that sits atop a hill and because lot clearing is kept to a minimum no driving of vehicles allowed on the lot.

Another goal of The WIE House concept is for local municipalities to get on board and see the value of higher density houses on property as opposed to the single Mega-Home!

The first WIE House was built on a lot owned by Jim Douglas on the Roanoke Sound, bordering the Kitty Hawk Maritime Forest became available for rent via AirBNB during Spring 2017.

The WIE Village borders the KITTY HAWK MARITIME FOREST! Experience the seclusion of the Kitty Hawk Woods Coastal Preserve as you kayak along this amber creek under a canopy of Live Oaks and Red Maples. Just a stone’s throw from Kitty Hawk Road and The Wie Village, this trip offers a special look into the forest reserves that still exist on the Outer Banks.

While kayaking, Kitty Hawk Kayak guide teaches you about maritime forests and the diverse terrestrial biomes that make up our barrier island. This kayak tour is great for all skill levels from beginners to seasoned veterans. The shelter provided by the tall trees of the forest keeps the water here calm, even on windy days.

I have lived on the Outer Banks for 30 plus years! I have four boys, who are very active with sports and anything that includes the water, surfing, skim boarding, diving....which is what the Outer Banks is all about! I have opened several Restaurants throughout the years and have now down sized to just one, Chilli Peppers! I also work in the Real Estate business with Four Seasons Realty. I love great food and we travel quite a bit! I used to back-pack and stay at youth hostels, when I was younger - now we do AirBnB!
