Charming, recently restored, and conveniently-located folk Victorian house (circa 1890s) within walking distance or short drive to downtown (3/4 mile to center of town) 2 BRs with queen size beds and one semi-private bedroom/sunroom with full-size futon (located off master bedroom). Heart of pine floors, clawfoot tub, wi-fi, smart tv. See list of amenities and photo album for more details. Pet fee $50 per pet.

The space

Beautifully restored home with 10-foot high ceilings, clawfoot tub, study, and full kitchen. Each of the two main bedrooms has a comfortable queen-size bed; the 3rd bedroom/sunroom is semi-private and is just off one of the bedrooms. Although the 3rd bedroom/sunroom does have a door for privacy, to access the bathroom and other parts of the house it is necessary to go through the main bedroom...this is usually not an issue with most guests. It also has a door that leads out to the front porch. Please see photos for a sense of the layout of the house. Fine art photographic prints are displayed throughout the home. There is also a back patio with table and chairs.

This place is great! It’s exactly what you expect it to be. The pictures do it justice! There’s plenty of space and the neighborhood is quiet and safe. Being close to three different grocery stores was also a big plus! Short drive to downtown and the Biltmore! It was a great trip and I would definitely stay here again!

Excellent LOCATION, especially if you enjoy walking and convenience. From the house it is a 10-minute walk to 3 grocery stores (including Greenlife [Whole Foods] & Trader Joe's) and a 5-minute walk past the grocery stores to Liberty Street wellness amenities including Asheville Yoga Center and Silver Leaf Medicine (acupuncture), and the wonderful Liberty House Cafe. It is a 15-20 minute walk from the house to downtown, depending on your destination. Location was my favorite feature. My favorite feature of the house itself was the sunroom with multiple new double hung windows and a feeling of being up in the trees and seeing squirrels jump from the roof to the nearby branches. It was a great place to hang out. As was the private patio. The bed was comfortable and I found the neighborhood to be surprisingly quiet at night. The communication with the hosts was good. They were welcoming and available for any questions.

First, Muriel was great with communication both before and during our stay. We were selling our home & she accommodated us a day earlier than we initially booked. Her flexibility was appreciated. Michael was there on our arrival and showed us around and gave recommendations to places for us to check out which was nice. I'll preface this next section with the fact we were there in August for a full month. We were surprised to find out on arrival that the "AC" as listed, was just a unit in each bedroom. This made for a pretty unbearable few days in the heat of August trying to spend time in the living room. As a family of 5, that made it pretty difficult as this is most of our evenings. Also, this probably sounds picky but the couch was very uncomfortable. Again, for a day or two, sure. Longer stays make this very apparent. Forget cooking on the gas stove/oven those hot days, it was miserable. When I contacted Muriel about this, her suggestion was to use ceiling fans & open the window in the evening, but many windows didn't have screens. (and lots of mosquitos out so that wasn't an option) I'm sure these are non issues in the other seasons. Probably a non issue if you're only here for a day or two and mostly out and about...or at least you can grin & bear it for that amount of time. For a month, this made for some uncomfortable days, even after we went out and purchased two additional fans. I would also note this house isn't best suited for families with younger kids. The floors were quite dusty and the rugs in need of a vacuum or wash. Also, my daughter got a HUGE splinter from the old (beautiful) floors when trying to play. Overall though... the beds were comfortable, the kitchen and bath were clean. Plenty of supplies such as dish detergent and trash bags. Nice washer and dryer. Plenty of towels and extra blankets. Great front yard on a quiet street with friendly neighbors. The location to downtown was great. Very close to downtown and we walked to several places such as High Five (coffee shop) Chick-fil-A, and Trader Joes. We loved the front porch/3rd bedroom. We often spent our evenings in this room which was by far the coolest since we could open the windows and listen to the cicadas.
