Private getaway

Guests say this area offers privacy.
The Treehouse 1 is just a 350 m stroll from the beach, featuring a charming veranda that overlooks a spacious 900 sqm garden and a beautiful pool shared with the Funky Treehouse. Both are surrounded by tropical greenery and offer privacy, ideal for couples, friends or solo travelers. Booked together they provide a mix of seclusion and connection.
For full privacy, Treehouse 2 and Retro Treehouse each have private pools.
Balian Beach is quiet, with no traffic or construction, pure timeless Bali

The space
The Treehouse 1 is the original Treehouse, the first one of the four we’ve built.
Our tropical garden offers several cozy hangouts, and the pool is a true highlight, turquoise by day and beautifully lit at night, inviting you in for a dip. Upstairs is the open living area, where the comfy daybed on the veranda overlooks palm trees, our lush garden, and the pool, with a peek of the ocean in the distance. It’s the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee or tea, soak in the breeze, and unwind.

Inside, there’s a large daybed (180 x 240) with a mosquito net for lounging or an afternoon nap. Downstairs, you’ll find the bedroom with air conditioning, a standing fan, a TV, as well as a bathroom, a small but functional kitchenette, and a second veranda. We have a shower with hot water and fast Indihome fiber internet, great for streaming or working remotely.

Balian is a peaceful, laid-back surf village that still feels like the Bali of the old days. When you arrive, you’ll feel the magic immediately. We built the Treehouse as sustainably as possible, using natural materials like driftwood collected from the beach. It’s been a labor of love, lots of sweat, joy, and some tears too! Living near the ocean means we’re always making updates and improvements.

Made and his wife clean daily, but keep in mind this is an open-style home. Nature flows freely through it, which means a bit of sand, leaves, or even a curious gecko or two. This space is not for the hyper-sterile! It’s for those who embrace a bit of wild beauty.

Everything in the village is within walking distance, but if you’re keen to explore further, we recommend renting a scooter.

Dining in Balian
You won’t find Starbucks, McDonald’s, or delis here, and that’s part of the charm. But there are plenty of great local restaurants to choose from:
• Balian Segara
• Tom’s Garden (don’t miss the salad!)
• Astana (famous for its burgers and live sports)
• Pondok Pitaya
• Deki’s
• Balian Beach Warung
• Gajah Mina
• Bintang Balian
• The local night market: great, authentic food at even better prices.

If you prefer to stay in, the kitchenette allows for simple home-cooked meals. You’re also welcome to pick fresh fruit from the garden when in season: lemons, coconuts, papayas, lemongrass, jackfruit, passionfruit, and more.

The area is very safe, but we also provide a large, fireproof safe for your valuables like laptops and passports, just for peace of mind

Guest access
Just a few steps from paradise!
The charming little path takes you straight to the beach and village in minutes. We love the open feel of our garden, no concrete walls, just nature, fresh air, and pure good vibes. A peaceful river is just a 2-minute stroll away. Who needs fences when you’re surrounded by beauty?

Other things to note
The open space upstairs let in a lovely breeze — and sometimes a curious leaf or little bug. Not for the overly fussy, but perfect for nature lovers!

Neighbourhood highlights

I love the feeling of a small community in this village, everyone knows each other and is super friendly. There is a nice mixture of people, local and foreign and all kinds of ages as well. Since we are not the only one who have discovered Balian there are people in Balian creating more beautiful places to stay.

SURFING:
Within 5 minute walking distance from the house you will find 3 beautiful peaks. Excellent for beginners as well as experienced surfers.

At a 15 minute driving distance you will find Medewi, well known for Bali's longest ride when it lines up on a S-SW Swell
All the other surf spots are at a 20 minute - 3 hour drive around the island

This village is a great place to start your holiday (be careful some never left) or end your trip.
