Welcome to our private backyard studio oasis–perfect for solo travelers or couples. Nestled behind our home, enjoy the quiet, peaceful beauty of our lush backyard and the thoughtful amenities of the studio. A short walk from Alki Beach, an old growth forest, and top restaurants. Easy transit to downtown and stadiums, plus only 20 minutes from SeaTac. Relax, explore, or cheer on your team during events like the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026!

The space
This stylish and cozy, 350 sq ft, modern studio is situated behind our home which backs up to a beautiful fern-covered hill. The studio consists of an open concept living and sleeping space, and has been updated with all new furnishings. It is the perfect launching point for work, commuting into the city, vacation, or a weekend getaway. Designed for comfort and a peaceful experience, the studio amenities include a luxury Queen-size Saatva mattress for an incredible night’s sleep, a spacious full-sized couch, 32’’ HD Smart TV with a Sonos soundbar, a library full of some of our favorite books and current best sellers, a dinette for two, and a kitchenette that includes a mini fridge, hot water kettle, French press, toaster oven and hot plate. Despite not including a chef's kitchen, the studio is outfitted for simple meals and is a close walk or drive to some of the city's top restaurants.

The bathroom is compact, consisting of a walk-in, 3x3 ft shower stall with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided for your convenience. Above the heated toilet is a mirrored medicine cabinet storing a hair dryer, and space for you to store your own items. The sink is located outside the bathroom, and serves double duty with the kitchenette.

The temperature in the studio is comfortable year round with heating and AC via a mini split heat pump.

If you are needing to work or just want to be connected for email or streaming, the studio has lightning fast WiFi on a fiber connection.

The studio and the main house open onto the same shared patio space. Both dwellings have beautiful large glass door openings, with the studio fitted with curtains that can be drawn for your comfort and privacy. There are light filtering privacy shades on all but two high windows in the studio. The high windows without shades do not affect your privacy.

The backyard garden is a shared space for our family to use, but feel free to relax outside when we are away. When the weather is nice in the spring, summer and fall months, you can expect to find us in the yard gardening, or our children jumping and laughing on the trampoline.

Transportation is quite accessible. Generous, free street parking if you drive. We are located on the 56 Route, with a bus stop just a block away. There is also a free water taxi shuttle stop directly across the street from our house, which is just a short ride to the West Seattle Water Taxi where you will then pay a small fee to board a passenger boat and take a 15 minute, scenic ride across Elliott Bay to Downtown Seattle. Once in Downtown Seattle, you are within walking distance to the Seattle Aquarium, waterfront, Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, shopping, Pioneer Square, and the stadiums, Lumen Field, (home of the Sounders, Reign FC, and Seahawks), and T-Mobile Park (home of the Mariners).

Guest access
You have access to the studio via the walkway on the side of our house. The path is lit from sunset to sunrise so you can come and go anytime. The studio is 70 steps over concrete pavers and a compact gravel path from the street to the studio. While the path is beautiful, some of the path details can make it tricky to roll large suitcases, especially if your hands are full. Large rollers will need to be lifted at certain points. We are always happy to assist with luggage if we are available. Please don’t hesitate to ask. The entrance to the studio is keyless and a unique door code will be shared with you prior to your stay, allowing you flexibility with your arrival time.

Other things to note
We have a very sweet, 19lb, miniature golden doodle who likes to greet everyone (including our family) with barking. She is quite safe, and chances are you might not even meet her. But we know some people are not comfortable around dogs, and wanted to share this with potential guests.
