Queen bed in bedroom, single & bunk bed in alcove of living area. Own self-contained kitchen, and disabled bathroom. All linen supplied. Hand-feed and touch Aussie animals for free within the surrounds of your accommodation.

Please note, we live in the mountains, in a rural area. As such, we have limited mobile reception, and unfortunately cannot at this stage offer Wifi. There are shops at Lavers Hill, but it is a small town. Please don't complain. It is what it is!

The space

If you wish to have added space with a larger group, it may be an idea to book multiple accommodations here. Our beds are comfortable, and we supply your own bathroom etc, but if you don't wish to be together (with your travelling group) you may find the rooms unsuitable.

We are 2km from the Great Ocean Road junction, on a main road to the waterfalls and The Otway Fly Treetop Adventures. We are 5 minute drive from Melba Gully glowworms. We are situated in the Otway Ranges which is a rainforest.

We are situated midway between Apollo Bay and Port Campbell. Our central location allows for ease in exploring thd region.

Our accommodation is marketed as clean, comfortable and affordable for family groups. We have provided extra bedding so that other room bookings are not always required.

We try to keep prices down by laundering ourselves, and cleaning ourselves. We also offer one night stays to assist with traveller itineraries.

If you wish for extra space and/or privacy you may require 2 or more units.

Our main emphasis is to allow close interaction with our friendly, iconic native animals.

Guest access

Free access to our private wildlife park (only available to staying guests). If you wish to meet the koalas, we can organize a suitably convenient time with you.

Interaction with guests

We live onsite, and are more than happy to interact. In fact, we like the personal touch, and wish to get to know the people sharing our property.

Other things to note

We live in the mountains, and it is the highest rainfall area in Victoria. We are surrounded by The Otway State Park and Otway National Park. The best phone/ internet reception is achieved with Telstra as we have towers in the area.

The place was advertised! You could walk out of the room and be greeted by birds or Wallabees! It was an amazing experience! Dean and Kirsten we're both so accommodating and Dean is quite knowledgable about the animals under their care! And of course, the Koalas were amazing and we were educated quite well by Dean! I would recommend it to my friends when they come down to Australia!

Dean and I have always looked after animals. We have lived in The Otways since 1998, and set up Fauna Australia from scratch (it was just cow paddocks). We both have tertiary qualifications Dean in Zoology and myself in Ecotourism. I am currently studying Criminal Psychology, and also work at The Visitor Information Centre for the Shire. We have 3 children: Jaryd 12, Sophie 10 & Chloe 8. They are very sociable and love showing people from around the world our friendly Aussie animals. We offer our guests an upclose personal experience where you can take your own photos (as many as you want) with such favourites as koalas (no extra charge). We want you to enjoy a great Australian experience.
