Spectacular views, gorgeous sunsets and deep, clear water in the heart of the Massassauga Provincial Park. The cottage is boat access only (no road access) - but is only a five minute boat ride from the marina. The cottage is a great blend of privacy and accessibility.

The space

the waterfront is a fantastic place to spend your days - with deep, clear water and afternoon sun. In the heart of the Massassauga Park, there are countless quiet bays and channels to explore by boat or canoe.

The cottage is recently renovated and features a very well-equipped kitchen, a family room with great views, three comfortable bedrooms and a deck that wraps all the way around the cottage.

A woodstove provides excellent heat on cool days, and on hot days, the cottage provides a cool cross breeze from the lake below.

A bbq is provided for outdoor grilling. 8 comfortable Muskoka chairs are provided for soaking in the view from the waterfront, or the cottage dock. When you aren't outdoors, cozy up indoors with a good selection of board games and books for both adults and children.

Guest access

Guests will need to arrange their own boat access to the cottage. Nearby Moon River Marina provides a water taxi and Woods Bay Marina rents aluminum boats.

Interaction with guests

Feel free to call, email or text owners with questions while on vacation.

Other things to note

Boaters have access to beautiful day-trip destinations - including Honey Harbour (Beausoleil Island), Sans Souci (try famous Henry's Fish and Chips), Wreck Island, Killbear Provincial Park, and Parry Sound. It is a short boat ride to the 4 km Moon Island Trail at the Woods Bay Day Use Docks. Or, try Calhoun Lodge trail at Blackstone Harbour. Parry Sound and Mactier are the closest towns to access groceries and other amenities. Local marinas do provide some essential household / grocery items.

Lisa's cottage was nothing short of amazing. My family of 4 (including 2 kids under 10) had an exceptional time. Woodpeckers, birds and chipmunks are frequently spotted from the window, along with gorgeous sunsets (given the cottage is south facing). In fact, we also spotted a bald eagle on two occasions, as one nests relatively nearby, and enjoyed the sea plane (owned by the cottage 2 over) take off and landing. The place is well appointed with a washer/dryer, refrigerator (complete with condiments), pantry (incl. spices, olive oil, balsamic, paper towel, napkins, saran wrap, ziploc bags, etc), coffee machine (incl. coffee, tea, sugar), stove, hot water for the shower, fireplace (incl. wood), air conditioner (although we didn't use it), Weber BBQ and canoe - along with 1 queen bed and 4 single beds. The landscaping is also quite beautiful with bright flowers and succulents. There are 3 lovely decks - one off the second floor bedroom, one on the main level that wraps around the entire cottage and has 2 muskoka chairs and a picnic table, and another one by the dock that has 4 muskoka chairs. Each of these are dreamy spots to relax and enjoy the stunning views. The cottage is boat access only, making it quiet and secluded. We rented an 8hp boat from Woods Bay Marine for $480+ tax for the week, but would recommend Moon River Marine instead where we learned you can get a 15hp boat for $300+ tax for the week. Additionally, I would recommend downloading Navionics on your phone. There is a free version that use can use for 14-days without payment, and it was indispensible given the number of rock outcrops and shallow areas around Georgian Bay. Lisa was responsive and kind with her communication, and always available to lending a helping hand. I would highly recommend visiting this stunning cottage. A few things to note: - Excursions require a boat. - We went to Henry's in San Souci for fish & chips. A nice adventure, but a pricey one with lunch for 4 coming in at $100, and food itself being good but not amazing. - We also ventured out to Moon River Falls, which was quite lovely. Use extra caution and don't get too close as the water is quite shallow. - We attempted a hike to Moon Island, but we were unable to make it very far as the bridge was washed out. - The Calhoun trail was really great and worth the trip. - They had the place sprayed for beetles and cockroaches and we had to sweep up about half a dozen dead bugs every morning. A relatively small price to pay for being out in nature. - We didn't let the kids venture out behind the property on their own as the area is known for rattlesnakes.

Thanks for your kind review Rahul. Glad the trip was a good one for you - it sounds like you did a lot. I didn't know Moon River rented out boats - that must be new this year so thanks for the tip! Your family is certainly welcome to return.

Beautiful. I'm an Ontarian that grew up at the summer cottage and then spent many years sailing Georgian Bay. Without question, I can say that Lisa's place is the total cottage experience with comfortable clean accommodations in a unique setting within Georgian Bay. Loons and sunsets - no extra charge!

We had a wonderful time at the cottage, which is located in a beautiful and serene setting in the Massasauga Park region. The cottage is well stocked with all the essentials to make for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. Lisa was quick to respond to all our questions, both prior to and during our stay, with many helpful suggestions about what to explore in the area. The cottage was recently renovated, and I believe we were the first guests. The furniture, beds, pots, pans, etc. were all new and of good quality. For those not familiar with the area, you should know that a boat is required to not only stay at the cottage but to experience the many trails and sights that are close buy. The nearby Marinas have very little in the way of provisions, but there is a small LCB0 and a few basics such as bread, milk, and eggs are available. So do your major shopping in Mactier or at home before you leave. The dock at the cottage is quite large with deep water, which was warm and calm. We even managed to catch a few fish off the dock. The owners provided a brand new canoe and a few kids toys. So if you are looking for an authentic Canadian cottage experience, then this is the place! It strikes a perfect balance between comfort and getting out into nature. Its not too remote, but just isolated enough to make you really feel that you have gotten away from the stresses of modern life. We'll be back!

Our family fell in love with Georgian Bay about ten years ago. We began our time boating on our 42 foot trawler - and later transitioned to renting cottages. Each year we have moved a little bit further north, from Honey Harbour, to our current location in the Massassauga Park…
