I spent three nights with Somphon and his lovely family. "With" is just the right word to describe the feeling you experience in this house, because I felt right from the beginning not like a customer, but like a guest of the family.
Somphon is a very wise and educated man, who got around in the world and though speaks very good English and even some German.
Even though Khao Yai national park nearby had the maybe greatest landscapes I've ever seen, I most enjoyed listening to his stories and opinions while eating his selfmade fantastic breakfast, which changed every morning a little bit, but was always authentic Thai.
The house itself is full of photos and stories, you can grab some books in several languages next to your room and it feels like home. But if you expect any luxury you are at the wrong place.
My room didn't have an AC, but three kinds of fans and I found the climate quite cozy.
At the evenings I enjoyed to take a beer out of the fridge (for supermarket-like prices), sit on the huge veranda and read. I was a happy man there.
I can recommend this place to everyone, who comes to Thailand to experience the reals life of the simple (in the best way) people and not mass-tourism and wild party nights.
