The Chinchary is a tropical bird that characteristically perches where it can get the best view of its surroundings.
Chinchary is also the name of an oceanfront property in Anguilla with a panoramic view across the Caribbean Sea to the islands of St. Barths, St. Eustatius and St. Maarten.

The space

Chinchary is located in the sought-after area of Sandy Hill. This one-bedroom 1,500 sq. ft. apartment is the first floor of a two-story private residence. Chinchary sits on an acre of land that stretches to the sea rocks and then the sea. There are two terraces, fully-screened interiors, ceiling fans, air-conditioned bedroom, newly remodeled high-end bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, TV with Netflix, wireless internet, and outdoor grill.

Guest access

The Chinchary property extends to the coral/rocky coastline and sea, but not the beach, which is just to the side. Sandy Hill Bay's white sand beach is easily seen from Chinchary. It is a two-minute drive away and offers wonderful swimming and a well-known snorkeling area. Walks around the adjacent Seafeathers neighborhood are delightful, offering more spectacular views with fresh Anguilla breezes.

Interaction with guests

Before arrival, all questions will be answered, and recommendations offered, so that guests will arrive confident that all necessary arrangements have been made. The owner will assure that guests are settled in comfortably and confidently. Access is provided to two beach chairs, umbrella, snorkeling equipment, and a cooler. Car rental, babysitters, chef, boat tours, fishing, scuba diving, stand-up paddle board rentals, kayak rentals, and day trips to St. Maarten and St. Barths can all be arranged.

Chinchary is wonderful! You can always go out to find the party but finding peace is much harder; Chinchary is it. So peaceful and calm with just the sound of the waves and wildlife all around. It's also in a great spot with a good supermarket just up the road and a great beach (one of the many on the island) just round the corner. We are missing it already and will definitely be back!

We stayed at Virginia's home for one week. We could not be happier with the location, the cleanliness, and the friendliness of her staff. The view was spectacular and her home was perfect.

This is a great place to stay for two people, especially at the price. The view is stunning, especially from the porch where we had breakfast every morning and drinks every evening. The nighttime view of the stars and the surrounding islands was amazing. Although the location is a little tricky to find the first time (especially at night), one quickly learns the roadside things to look for to remember where to turn. We found that (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps worked much better than Waze or Apple maps for navigating on the island. If you plan on spending most of your time on the west side of the island then this place is a bit far away. But I believe that is reflected in the aggressive pricing. Overall, we were very happy with our experience.

Chinchary is a lovely place! The house is perfect, clean and fully equipped (we really enjoyed the BBQ) ... But what we loved the most is the amazing view from the terrace. We will never forget our breakfast and dinners in front of the sea refreshed by the breeze of Anguilla. Virgina is a great host, always available and ready to help with insights of the island. Thanks a lot for the fantastic week!

Sandy and I loved every minute of our stay. Virginia, the owner, who lives upstairs, recently renovated with tasteful and top quality work, especially a bathroom which will make you envious" where else can you have a large sunflower-headed shower while taking in views of gorgeous St. Martin across the Anguilla Channel? The southerly facing deck has the same orientation. Virginia's house was her parents', and she has been a part-time resident of Anguilla for decades. Few know the island as well as she. Virginia authored/provided a comprehensive booklet for the island, one which covers everything from beaches to groceries and more. Her yard is well-landscaped on a south-facing location a strategic 100 yds upslope from the ocean. The spot is quiet and serene, one's senses bathed my mild breezes and ocean sounds. However, you are but 2 minutes from a major road, with easy-access island-wide. There are many extras available: snorkel gear, beach chairs, BBQ equipment, TV with Netflix and more. ample towels and sheets, fine wifi, and much more. We are/were thrilled, and would make this, without reservation, our first choice again when we return. Virginia's place is a gem! Bill

Virginia was such a joy to communicate with from the very beginning about the reservation. She was incredibly helpful and considerate, even providing detailed instructions on how to find the house! Parking out front was very private and convenient. Lovely residential neighborhood, beautiful to walk around in and I felt very safe. Pretty, well-maintained houses! Despite being part of a two story villa, it was very private! Virginia was available when I needed her, but my space was so quiet and private that I forgot she was there! Photos of the apartment are accurate and very representative of it, but do not even begin to do justice to the natural beauty around you! The place is fully screened which allows you to open all the windows and doors and enjoy the Caribbean breeze!! The A/C did work, but the breeze flowed through so nicely that I didn't need the A/C!! Everything looks well taken care of. The clean kitchen had everything I needed! The bedroom and bathroom suite look newly remodeled and very luxurious. Bed was super comfy and very spacious. The bathroom is so elegant and upscale. I loved the art hanging in the space, it was well-decorated! Other than the privacy provided, the best part of the apartment is THE VIEW! I LOVED the view from the terrace. The description does not lie, you can even enjoy the view from the shower! There are no obstructions blocking the gorgeous view of Sandy Hill bay and the neighboring islands. Beautiful. Absolutely stunning. The wifi is very good, I was even able to facetime with loved ones back home no problem. The TV has Netflix, but I was too busy enjoying the view to spend any time inside looking at a screen! At night I would sit outside and look up at the stars, some of the best stargazing I've ever seen! Virginia provides a written guide and great insight into the island in terms of where to go, where to eat, etc. She is an AWESOME source of info from a local's perspective! You can tell how much she cares for the island and her recommendations help you see the true beauty of the island from many angles. Amazing price, amazing view, will definitely be coming back to stay with Virginia and continue to explore this beautiful island!!! You absolutely must make it to Anguilla and be sure to stay with Virginia!!!
