We stayed for two nights at Mapis, it’s basic but very reasonable. Air con in the large room and a good sized bathroom and a mini fridge for beer and snacks. Loved watching the hummingbirds at the feeders and sitting in the mango trees outside. We ate at the restaurant next door …

Thanks for your kind words because it's our main concern, that we meet your expectations, it's a pleasure to have guests that appreciate "basic" one-star accommodations and not expecting more than what it is. Yes, the hummingbirds are the highlight and if you ask for our small hand feeders, you can also have a try to hand feed them! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay, we hope you come back and experience Curu Reserve and the bioluminescence night tour etc.! Pura Vida! Nilda (Owner)

Response from Frank:
We appreciate your compliments on accommodations and to our staff because everyone here on Mapi’s wants each guest to leave with great memories. Our listing mentions what to expect in room, I agree it could use night tables but (2 x 16 cabins) 32 night tables is quite an investment, that we're not able to do at the moment but hoping with time, with a better occupancy rate, we hope to make that possible... Thanks again, for taking time to write about your stay with us. Nilda ~ Frank's Wife

Fantastic place if you’re not into the glitz and the glam of Americanized traveling. Has all of the necessities and in the perfect location.

Our stay at Mapi's cabins was for only one night but it was perfect since we were doing the bioluminescene kayak tour so we wanted to stay in Paquera. It's super easy to find and very close to the ferry. Good value for the price and they let us switch to a ground floor room. Ther…

Hi Samantha! I'm so sorry for the unwelcomed guests!! So glad you gave our staff the opportunity to resolve the issue of the ants by changing your room. YES, this is a constant battle we have because it's just part of this rural area of Costa Rica. I'm so glad your so understanding, they're not in all the cabins, they randomly show up at random times and random cabins. I assure you we fumigate, have screens on windows, insulate doors all around, we can only get rid of them as they appear and can only appreciate our guests' patience to change from cabins or to come back later as we get rid of them but please let us know, we don't want you to put up with that... Other than that we're so glad you enjoyed yourself and appreciate your support in choosing us as your accommodations. Nilda/Frank's Wife

I enjoy fishing on my time off or making time for fishing, I found my niche in Costa Rica! I'm a family man and felt Paquera Costa Rica, was a peaceful place to relax and made it our second home. I believe you don't have to break the bank when traveling and staying at Mapi's C…
