The space
This small stone cottage, was once a home for doves. It is historically fascinating and architecturally intriguing, with large old wood beams and wooden stairs.
Within an extensive mature walled garden, a stone path leads under a rose-arch to the quaint 1600s cottage.
A glass front door opens into an enchanting calm atmosphere. Beneath part of the floor, under sturdy glass, is a glimpse of an ancient vaulted cavern.
Above, tucked up in the tower, is a tiny little loft bedroom with a double bed, hypoallergenic bedding, Egyptian cotton sheets, and a window overlooking the private garden.
Illuminated ancient nesting boxes line the walls.
It is quiet.
On the ground floor, is a bright sitting/ dining room with original stone walls, a high ceiling and skylights.
Beneath a small mezzanine is the neat bespoke L-shaped kitchen, rustic-style, with a fridge, 2-ring gas hob, microwave and convection oven, kettle and toaster. Counter-tops and the table are made from slabs of a cedar tree that once grew in the garden. The building is 2.4m wide.
The wood-burning stove is opposite a pull-out sofa-bed (115cms wide mattress), and the whole ground floor has underfloor heating, as well as gas central heating.
The wood-lined bathroom, with a luxuriously large wet-room style shower, has a skylight with views of trees. A chunk of cedar wood, with the bark retained, contains the basin. Skillfully designed, this is a captivating little treasure.
It is an extraordinary and rare delight that will enchant guests.

Guest access
This romantic hideaway has a delightful adjoining secluded terrace for guests' use, tucked away in the calm private garden. With a south-westerly aspect it catches sun and is sheltered by ancient stone walls and the southern wall of the cottage. Scented roses, clematis and rosemary, make it a sweet haven.

Other things to note
Wildlife-friendly garden with vast mature trees.
A private countryside-style driveway is 100metres long, and the entrance is protected with CCTV.
The ancient “Jacobite Rose”, reputedly picked by Bonnie Prince Charlie, grows on an archway over the path to the dovecot.
Attached to the key is a button fob that switches on timed garden lights.
The free parking space is out of sight of the road. It is for an ordinary sized car. Long or high vehicles will NOT fit because there is a very sharp left turn at the entrance and branches overhang the driveway.
High or long vehicles can be parked in the street for £11.30 per day, but all spaces are usually taken by 8am till about 6pm. TV is web-enabled.
This charming cottage is unique and really is worth every penny!
