A quiet spot to hang out with a group and explore Mannar Island. Price is per double room with attached bathroom and there are ten rooms available.

The space

Lawrence's is a big place. Spread over 3 acres, it offers ten double rooms and two family rooms, each with private bathroom. There's a big, common living room, a dining area and a garden full of fruit trees. When we were there we bumped into a calf that was munching on some mangoes, we saw guineafowls and many pigeons. A nice natural feel this place has.

Interaction with guests

Lawrence is a friendly 53 year-old man who lived on Mannar Island all his life. He's got four kids, whose names all start with a ‘T', so he named his place ‘ The Four Tees'. Lawrence built the place himself, after the Civil War ended in 2009 and he's hosted many tourists since. He speaks English, Tamil and some Sinhala, and he can arrange meals and transport upon request.

Neverbeen User Profile

Neverbeen offers a wide variety of rare homes off the beaten track, from fisherman's huts and tree houses to heritage homes and tea estates. Our team hand-picks and visits every home and meet all hosts to make ensure guests have a positively memorable stay in places they've never been.

We provide travellers and home owners in challenging locations with access to one another, by offering communication services, online marketing services and tourism training, so that locals can make a living off their home and travellers can get to stay in places they have never been.

As such, Neverbeen works for a world in which everyone has the chance to earn income by renting out their home, regardless of language, internet access and tourism experience.

In Sri Lanka, Dishan manages our growing group of homes in cooperation with our scouts, while Rohan creates listings and provides service. In Amsterdam, Marten works out international growth plans. Our team of in-house programmers is constantly developing the platform itself and Ernst & Young does our finances.

The first country we're active in is Sri Lanka, a beautiful country with many undiscovered places to stay. Due to it recently having opened up to tourism after decades of conflict, it is a great place to start and pilot the Neverbeen concept. We plan to expand to ten countries before the end of 2017.
