Built in the 1840s, Foxglove Farm blends historic charm with rustic-chic and sits on 70 peaceful and secluded acres of farm land. The beautiful log house is an eclectic mix of shabby-chic antiques but with every modern convenience. Within 15 minutes are superb restaurants, antique shops, golf, hiking, riding, skiing, a luxury resort spa and winery. With rolling green hills, horse farms and historic small towns this area, only an hour from Toronto, truly is one of Ontario's hidden gems.

The space
The oldest part of the house at Foxglove Farm is the original 1840s log structure that has been lovingly restored. On the ground floor is a large living room with 2 sofas and 2 armchairs in front of the huge wood-burning stone fireplace. The dining room has a large antique table that can seat 8-10 and finally on the ground floor of the original log farmhouse is a 3-piece bathroom with large shower. Upstairs are 2 large bedrooms with antique furnishings and the largest bathroom with a claw-foot tub to relax in. The 1860's addition to the main log house contains the kitchen that has been recently renovated with traditionally painted pine flooring, quartz counter, apron sink and 6-burner gas range. A sun room leads out to the back deck with patio set and BBQ for outdoor dining. There are 2 further bedrooms up the second set of stairs. A new extension to the house has a family room with cathedral ceiling, walk out deck and hot tub, a third bathroom and laundry room. The extensive lawns and garden area retain the country/farm feel and have a fire pit for evening entertainment and a large play set with a slide and swings for young children. There's even a tree-house for adventurous kids as well as a fun tire swing in the barn.

Guest access
Guests at Foxglove Farm can enjoy access to all areas of the farm, including the barn, but should be aware that it is a working arable farm so at certain times of the year there may be tractors and harvesters on the property. Currently there are no animals on the property. Guests are invited to take advantage of the 70 acre property for long walks with incredible views over the Hockley Valley. The sunrises and sunsets are particularly stunning in this bucolic area of green rolling hills and woodlands. Deer, wild turkeys, rabbits and other wild animals are daily visitors and frequently pass within 50 yards of the farmhouse.

Other things to note
There are so many wonderful restaurants near Foxglove Farm to enjoy for a night out or where you can pick up dinner if you've had a long day of exploring and just don't want to cook. Pizza, Japanese, Indian, Mexican, French, Country

Foxglove Farm is located in an area of rolling green hills called The Hills of the Headwaters with nearby horse farms for riding, very quiet country roads for long walks or cycling, two ski hills, both within a 15-minute drive, five golf courses within a 30-minute drive and a luxury spa at the nearby Hockley Valley Resort. The spectacular Mono Cliffs Provincial Park is only 15 minutes away with stunning caves and Kms of trails for the best hiking in Ontario. The local restaurants are truly amazing from fine-dining in an old school house to an awesome gastro-pub in the stone-walled basement of an 1840s building in a secluded hamlet. There are two of the best general stores in Ontario, the Rosemont General Store just 5-minutes north and the Hockley Valley General Store 7-minutes south. Here you can get everything from day-to-day groceries to fine-foods, Hunter boots and French soaps. Both have excellent cafes that do great breakfast, brunch or dinner and Hockley General Store even has a tiny LCBO and Beer Store. The nearby town of Alliston is only 15-minutes away and has everything else - from big box stores to chi-chi shops, a wonderfully preserved old single-screen cinema, all 5 big banks, restaurants, drug stores, etc.

I was born and raised on a farm in England before moving to Toronto in 1990 with my wife and raising two wonderful children. Although I worked in advertising for 25 years, owning my own agency for the last 10, my heart always belonged to the country. After my wife passed away in 2011, I decided it would be good for me and my two teens to be able to escape to the country on weekends. In 2015 I finally bought the farm of my dreams and it truly is paradise.
