Built in 1886 by a local merchant, Rocklea overlooks a small marina in the picturesque village of Walls. This Victorian Villa has been modernised to provide a quirky and colourful holiday home away from home. Set within a mature walled garden which you are welcome to use, Rocklea is right by the sea and looks across to the island of Vaila.

The space
The house is semi-detached with your own private entrance - we live in the other side of the house and will be happy to help should you need anything during your stay.

Walls is an ideal base for exploring the west side of Shetland which offers miles of coastal and hill walks, a number of historical and archaeological sites and a variety of wildlife. Lerwick is approximately 25 miles away and the rest of the Shetland mainland easily reachable within an hour or so by car. The local shop/post office is a 2 minute walk away. There are no pubs nearby although the village hall often hosts a quiz night, ceilidh, Sundays teas or take-aways.

A great place to relax, unwind and be close to some of Shetland's wonderful nature in a small friendly village.

The Space

Accommodation is over 2 floors with kitchen and living room on the ground floor and 2 double bedrooms and bathroom upstairs.

The kitchen is fully equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, air fryer, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer, washing machine, clothes airer, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. The kitchen leads to a back porch (ideal for storing bicycles/fishing gear etc) and from there out into an extensive garden.

The livingroom has a large ornamental fireplace, 2 comfy sofas, wall mounted TV with Freesat and a good selection of books. It's situated at the front of the house with lovely sea and sunset views.

The front bedroom also has a lovely sea view. It is furnished with a double bed (with an electric blanket for winter nights), 2 bedside cabinets, 1 double wardrobe, storage unit with drawers and an ornamental fireplace.

The back bedroom looks over the garden and has a double bed (also with an electric blanket), 2 bedside cabinets, a double wardrobe, chest of drawer and TV.

All bedding is supplied.

The bathroom has a bath with over-bath power shower along with toilet, sink, mirror and storage shelves.

All towels and a selection of toiletries supplied.

You'll find a variety of tables, benches, chairs and a hammock in the garden which you're welcome to use.
