The space
Welcome to HyggeHaus, a luxury modern cabin that sleeps 6 adults, nestled in the Eagle Lake area of Haliburton Highlands, a scant 2½ hours from Toronto. This recently built apres-ski-style four season home was designed with privacy, peace and sustainability in mind. The result is a stay unlike any other, as guests step into an environment that is at once thoughtfully intentional and beautifully organic.
This 2020 MAFCOHouse build incorporates elements of the natural world throughout its breathtakingly simple design: take in the environs with generous floor to ceiling windows and screens, live amongst the trees with Douglas fir-lined ceilings, feel grounded with earthy, radiant-heated polished concrete floors. Recently installed A/C and Bell Fibre internet/cable keeps you cool and connected.
HyggeHaus offers three bedrooms with dreamy Queen-sized premium mattresses; Casper Original Hybrid, Tempurpedic Breeze and Simmons Beautyrest. Cooling ceiling fans, Google Mini's and under-bed storage available in every room.
Barrier-free throughout the entire bungalow, HyggeHaus features two spa-like bathrooms that include curbless showers with infinity drains and rejuvenating rainshower heads. Shampoos and soaps provided.
Guests can prepare a delicious meal in the good size, fully-equipped kitchen with Bosch appliances and enjoy it around a dining table that comfortably sits 6, with additional means to expand to 10+. Dedicated pantry drawer and entire fridge/freezer available for guest use.
Retreat to the living room where a generous, cozy L-shaped couch offers the ideal nest for relaxing, reading, napping, or playing games. Play a record on the vintage-style turntable, enjoy a movie on the big screen TV, or hook up one's own device with the unlimited Wifi. A large woodstove reflects a warm glow and gives all the feels (and smells!) that would be expected from a first-class cottage country getaway.
End your day in the indulgent 5-6 seater hot tub, or with a glass of wine around the fire pit, stocked with onsite firewood and seating for many under the stars.
The outdoor space at HyggeHaus is a private paradise for nature and lounge lovers, with an expansive covered porch featuring patio furniture, outdoor games, comfy hammock and Napolean BBQ (propane onsite). A quaint, unheated bunkie with a double bed may offer a reading hideaway, secret napping spot or little art nook in warmer months. The 2 acre forested lot offers serene privacy and an abundance of birdsong and wildlife spotting. Deer, Fox, Wild Turkeys, red squirrels and all the songbirds you can imagine make frequent visits to say 'hello'.
Hike, ski, snowboard or mountain bike at adjacent Sir Sam’s Ski & Bike depending on the season (2 min drive). Take to the pristine waters of nearby Eagle Lake (3 min drive). Boat launch and public sandy beach are ready for family enjoyment. Complimentary use of stand-up paddle (SUP) board, canoe or 2 kayaks-- along with car strap kits-- available at HyggeHaus.
Golfing, world class Fleming College art classes, spa-treatments, sound-bathing, dog-sledding, Treetop trekking, snowmobiling, taking in the Fall colours atop the Lookout Tower are just some of the many activities merely minutes away that support both the body and soul. Maybe Bring: favourite pillow, portable speaker to sync to personal devices, bag of kindling - we have the large wood onsite but this is in case you are not comfortable using a hatchet or axe to create kindling
We Provide: regular bath towels for showering, bed sheets, pillows, comforters, various watercraft, coffee, tea, spices and some basic condiments.

HyggeHaus is strictly non-smoking. Please kindly smoke outdoors away from any open doors or windows.
If using hot tub, follow onsite instructions with regards to chemistry.
Guests visiting between November to April are strongly encouraged to arrive in a vehicle with AWD or 4x4 capabilities WITH snow tires.
Guests visiting in May-Aug are reminded to close screens/doors immediately upon entry/exit and bring bug-repellant (we will have some extra onsite for emergencies). Spring blackflies and Summer mosquitos are typical in cottage country.
