Our clean and cozy studio apartment, set on 80 acres of woodland and pasture with views of Mt Mansfield to the north, offers a quiet and picturesque VT country retreat only 25 min from the city of Burlington.
We have cross country ski and snowshoe trails out our door, and Sleepy Hollow Cross Country Ski-way is right down the road. If you're into downhill, we're surrounded by Bolton, Mad River, Jay Peak and Stowe.
The studio apartment is on the first floor of a private building adjacent to our house. Upstairs from the apartment there is a large open space which can be used for yoga, meditation, dance, stretching, etc.
The space provides a perfect romantic getaway for 2 but can comfortably accommodate 4 adults or a small family. (We do charge a fee for extra adults after 2 BUT not for babies/young children traveling with their own bedding.) We have a new queen bed always made up with freshly washed linens. We also have a trundle bed set up as a couch but it can be made up into one or two twin beds (with clean linens), upon request.
There is a kitchenette with a sink, stove, full-size refrigerator/freezer, toaster, microwave, coffee machine and electric water heater. We provide coffee and a variety of teas, as well as honey, sugar, and milk or cream. The cabinets are stocked with utensils, plates, bowls, glasses and mugs, wine opener, and salt and pepper. The tap water is excellent for drinking. (And if you need anything else, please ask!)
The bathroom is quite spacious. We provide clean towels and fresh soap. There is also a hair dryer.
The room and bathroom are handicap accessible with about a one inch rise at the door and a level, gravel path to the door. Price includes 9% Vermont Rooms Tax.
Guests are encouraged to explore our property, including the network of trails (probably about 1/2 mile, total) that winds through the woods and down to a beaver pond (with active beaver!).
We welcome guests to visit the ducks and horses inside the barn or outside in the pasture. (Bring some lettuce to feed the ducks- they go crazy for it!, but please do not feed the horses.)
Guests staying several nights are welcome to do a load of laundry or two inside our house.
Interaction with guests
We hope our guests feel comfortable stopping by to say hello at any time, if they would like. We have met so many interesting people this way! We also understand the desire for privacy and so we try not to be intrusive in any way.
Other things to note
We're a young and welcoming couple, with a strong love for Vermont. We purchased this place with the intention of preserving it as a homestead and creating a space that could be enjoyed by people of all different ages.
We're looking forward to hosting you! Please, no smoking or pets, and remove outside shoes in the entrance way. (Slippers recommended!) Check-in and check-out times can be flexible unless there is a turnaround on the same day. In that case, check-in is 3pm and check-out is 11am so that we have time to clean between guests.
Please do not feed the horses!
Hi! We're a young couple with a baby boy. Mike works for a non-profit organization he co-founded called The DREAM Program and Rachel is a primary care physician assistant.
We are passionate about our work but also about creating a welcoming space for our community. We look forward to sharing it with you!
