Great location
90% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Modern detached studio on our lifestyle block with rural views. Comfy queen bed, dining table, kitchenette, TV, wireless internet, shower/toilet. A warm, clean, safe and private space to relax and unwind after a day surfing Raglan or skiing Whakapapa. Great for couples, solo adventurers & business travellers. Portacot available. Minutes to SH1: 15 mins to Hamilton, 90 mins to Auckland Airport. Perfect as a base to explore Hobbiton, Waitomo Caves, Mystery Creek/Avantidrome, surf or skifields.

The space
The cottage sits behind our own house with beautiful views of Pirongia mountain and the countryside. The cottage is a modern studio, clean and comfortable with a small deck looking onto our orchard area. It comfortably sleeps 2 adults with everything needed for a relaxing stay in a rural location. We are able to provide a portacot if required. Just ask at the time of booking.

We provide a continental breakfast with homemade jam from the orchard, and there's always a supply of tea and coffee.

The kitchenette has a microwave and fridge, kettle and toaster, cutlery and crockery, a George Forman grill, electric frypan and double hob, but no oven. There is a dining table with chairs and a TV with Freeview and you have access to wireless wifi.

In warmer months we keep the BBQ gas bottle full and guests are welcome to use it. Outside there are a table and chairs for relaxing on the deck.

We are located less than 10 minutes from the Te Awa mall shops/restaurants/cafes at The Base, and a choice of 2 large supermarkets. For great kiwi ice-cream, or last minute supplies (very handy!) the local dairy/corner shop is 2 minutes drive away in Te Kowhai village.

If you are a repeat guest or business traveller looking for a change from city accommodation, ask about what discounts I may be able to offer regular guests.

We look forward to hosting you.

Hi, I'm originally from Scotland, came to NZ on my own big OE and have now lived here for over 20 years. We tried Airbnb on a family trip to the Southern US in 2016 and have nothing but great things to say about our experiences. My overseas family are travelling here less and less so we thought we should offer our fabulous little cottage on Airbnb instead of it sitting empty and unloved. In my spare time I am a craftaholic with an unwieldy stash of supplies for crafting that would last a good 10 years if I ever got round to finishing anything! I'm really excited about the new experiences that hosting may bring. I work from home so contact with guests from around the world will be like travel by osmosis. Similarly, I really look forward to meeting other hosts: if you're travelling this way, do call in! Favourite quote from someone on a 'Grand Designs' episode from Isle of Skye: "Better to have a little bit of something you really love than a lot of mediocrity". Have a great day! Alison
