We've created a campsite for travellers to set up their own tents! You have access to the property as any one of our guests. A firepit, a small Buffalo herd, a beautiful river and a horse sanctuary!
Our accommodations book up fast so why not pitch your own tent !
We invite you to come and explore our 700 acre oasis where you can see horses grazing, go hiking, fishing and swimming nearby, visit Algonquin Park and have your own campfire.

The space

The Buffalo Farm Horse Sanctuary is made up of vast open fields, wooded trails and 3km of river frontage with white sand beaches. We invite you to pitch your tent or trailer on our 700 acre oasis where you can indulge in the serenity and tranquility of our calm and peaceful space. Wake up next to horses grazing and have intimate encounters with them, go for a walk through the forest or enjoy a canoe trip on route to Algonquin park.

You are invited to a guided interaction with our horses at the sanctuary– meet them, hear their stories, groom them and ride them in the corral or on the trail. This is a very special experience which our guests invariably love. For this, we ask a minimum contribution of $30 per hour for the first person and $15 per hour for each additional adult, kids are free. These contributions will help with the upkeep of our herd and our network to rescue and care for more horses.

Guest access

Guests have access to 700 acres on our property. There are a combined 10 miles of trails. This is a very private location. Hiking trails, Horseback riding trails, ATV trails, River Access and Algonquin Park are all accessible on or from the farm. Guest can also take part in our Horse Sanctuary and if you come with your own horse you have access to the Corral, Stalls and the Barn. Hay and pasture can be made available at a $5.00/day rate.

Great place if you're looking for just a campsite with a good place to canoe!

The campsite is overpriced. It is not well maintained and BUGGY. I did not see a single horse while we were there. The host was easy to contact but she did not fill us in on any of the above information. We would have bailed except the farm is far away from anything else so we made do. We did have a nice evening until the tall grass and night fall produced so many mosquitos we had to get in the tent.

My best friend, dog and I spent 3 nights and 4 days camping at this wonderful place. The location is beautiful and there is so much to do on the farm and the surrounding area. The hosts were very accommodating and were readily available every time we needed something or had any questions. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quiet and peaceful camping experience. Some key things I would recommend to bring for future campers: - bug spray - something to provide shade for really hot days - a grill of some sort to use in the fire pit if you do not have a Hibachi or Coleman stove (etc). Overall, I will definitely be returning for more adventures here. I really love the idea of supporting a farm like this. We were able to meet some of the horses and hear a few of their rescue stories. Making me feel like every bit of money spent towards this was worth while. 10/10!

Sarah's brothers were very nice with us. We were the first ones to camp on their farm and it was an amazing experience. The site was super pretty, calm and relaxing. They dig us a fire place, made sure it was safe, made sure we are safe as well by giving us a walkie-talkie with what we could reach them at anytime. They gave us privacy and ensured we had all we needed to have a great time. The only reason this isn't a 5 stars is because we did not get to pet or ride the horses and that was one of the main reason we went to this airbnb. The hosts ended up being overloaded with work the day we were going to do it and since we only stayed a night we didn't have another chance at it. However, the overall experience was still really great!
