B&b in old farmhouse in a tiny hamlet on the fellside, great views from the 2 bedrooms , a cosy lounge with Woodburner, t.v etc. Homemade bread and preserves served with your choice of breakfast. Evening meals some nights with our own or local food.

The space
We only do bed and breakfast, it is not a holiday cottage, therefore the prices are per person. It is our home so you share it with us and our dog. We also have 2 ponies and lots of chickens. There are farm animals around and tractors.

Guest access
We have a cosy guests lounge with dining table. Outside there are benches around and a pretty garden you can sit in. The views and walks from the house are very peaceful with lots of wildlife, birds and hares in particular. We're on 2 cycle routes, room to store your bikes.
We pride ourselves on our warm welcome and homemade produce.

Other things to note
We are rural, a village with 2 pubs and a shop is 4 miles away. We are 800ft up so great views but up a hill!
We are 14 miles from Penrith and 20 miles from Ullswater and the Lake District. It is very quiet here and the views are stunning. We are on the Pennines in an "Area of outstanding natural beauty ."
Note both pubs get booked up well in advance so do book before you come or stop in Penrith on your way as a good choice of eateries there.
You can sometimes pre book a meal here, please ask well in advance of coming.

Scale Houses, England, United Kingdom

We are in a small farming hamlet of 9 houses, 2 are still working farms.
Bring boots for walking when here as some rough and muddy ground.
We are very rural !

We have lived in the old farmhouse for 25 years and renovated it ourselves. When we bought it it was no longer a farm but has a field for my horses and outbuildings. Space to make a big vegetable and flower garden at the back. The house was very tired and needed so much work before we could open for bed and breakfast. We have done up the loft, once a grain store for the cow byre below, just a store when we came, then Richard’s art and design studio and now a quirky space to stay! I liked riding every day but am waiting for hip replacements and can’t ride. I enjoyed walking up the fell and hopefully will again. I love my garden, dog, poultry and ponies, Alma and Flyer. We both have and love motorcycles the roads here are great as are the Lakes only 30 minutes away. I have a little sports car too a bit easier for me at present to have fun with. I also enjoy baking and Richard loves walking our collie Bea, growing potatoes and strawberries!
