Enjoy the simplicity and privacy of this hand crafted Mongolian yurt. Set in 21 private acres on Cowley Lake, this is the perfect place to base your Yukon adventures and take time out to relax. The stunning lake and mountain views are worth the visit.

The space

Enjoy the privacy and comfort of our hand crafted Mongolian yurt. The yurt is set on a south facing deck with lake and mountain views. The yurt can sleep up to five guests and is kept warm and cosy with a simple woodstove.
The simplicity of the Yurt allows you to enjoy the beauty of the Yukon landscape at its fullest.
Please note that if the yurt is not available for your holiday dates we do have the option of the Cosy Cabin which sleeps 4 guests.

Guest access

Available for guest use in the main house is a bathroom with shower and toilet; laundry facilities; yoga room; living room and library; and a cold room for food storage. For longer stays there is an outdoor cooking area and there is a canoe down on the lake you are welcome to take for a paddle. Children can enjoy the outdoor play area, soccer field, playhouse and tree house.
We have a huge raspberry patch that guests are welcome to enjoy in the fall.
We also offer guided day hikes through the surrounding wilderness.
During the winter months, viewing of the northern lights is a major highlight!

Interaction with guests

Guests are welcome to make themselves at home in the main house when they are staying with us.
We have two children, so kids are more than welcome here and they will find lots to do to keep themselves amused.
We enjoy night time stories around the bonfire, star gazing, northern light displays and evening cups of tea with our guests.

Other things to note

The Yukon is evolving into quite the mountain bike mecca, and Traveling Light Bed and Breakfast is conveniently situated halfway between the amazing trails of Whitehorse and the spectacular biking trails of Carcross. The perfect place to base yourself for an amazing mountain biking adventure.
If you are coming in the winter months and plan to go on a dog mushing adventure, please take the time to book before you get here to make sure you get a dog team. My favorite place to go dog mushing is Sky High Wilderness Ranch out at Fish Lake.

Amanda's yurt was incredible! I spent 2 nights here with my mom and sister, and we all loved it. The view was absolutely spectacular and the yurt was very cozy. We also enjoyed chatting with Amanda and her family over breakfast and meeting their dog, Banjo! I'd love to come back in the winter time to cross country ski! My mom and sister also really appreciated how Amanda accommodated their food allergies and ensured they each had something delicious to eat for breakfast. Thanks for a great stay!

If your looking for a out of the way, peacefully tranquil space to relax and enjoy the quiet and scenic area, this is the place to go, it was absolutely breathtaking beautiful! Our hosts were gracious and respectful of our space, the continental breakfast was yummy including homemade bread and muffins. This spot was one of the highlights of our trip, we highly recommend it!

Great introduction to the Yukon. The yurt offers breathtaking views and a complete sense of away-from-it-all. Amanda greats you like an old friend, you are welcome, and you'd probably wish to stay longer.

Stayed here for two nights and could not have asked for a better location and space. The views are spectacular and Amanda added many little touches to make my stay as comfortable as possible. I've already been telling all my friends about this and would highly suggest anyone travelling though the Whitehorse area to stay at least one night (if two or more is not possible)

This was our first day in the Yukon and the vibe and view from the yurt set the mood for the rest of our trip. This is a special place and I would definitely do this again.

Our stay here was a delight from the beginning to the end! A small, winding trail leads to the yurt, and opens up to the spectacular view. The yurt is actually an authentic Mongolian yurt imported from Mongolia! It was very fun to open the beautiful set of doors, and walk into the inviting and comfortable interior. Sitting on the private deck watching ravens doing arial acorobatics was incredibly relaxing and magical. We couldn't imagine a better setting. Did I mention the breakfast? Amanda is amazing!

The views are absolutely stunning. The direction are perfect get you right to the front door. I plan on definitely coming back. The only thing I didn't like was I couldn't stay longer. It's close to town yet far enough away to relax and feel like you miles from anyone. This is a must stay if coming to Whitehorse.
