The space
This page is about the rental of the home of my paternal family built more than a century ago, still used for housing and not tourist use today. If you have to use it, remember it. It is located in Lefkimmi, the second municipality of the island of Corfu, 40 km south of the capital of the island. Lefkimmi is equipped with a port with direct connections to Igumenitsa on the mainland (6 or 7 runs per day, 1 hour sailing); or you can still reach it by land in about an hour (an hour and a half by bus: one every hour or so) if you have disembarked at the capital. Lefkimmi is a municipality of about 10,000 inhabitants and represents the economic and administrative center of the southern part of the island (there is also a small hospital) and is divided into villages. The country, although very characteristic, is not a tourist destination. If you decide to live in the house (which is in the village called "Potami") you will find yourself immersed in the daily life of a small Greek village. There are small restaurants nearby where you eat very well, as well as typical Greek bars and shops, but there is no nightlife (not the type that tourists usually look for). In summer there is an intense local cultural life, but you have to inform yourself about the place. The house is located in the center of the village that is about 1.5 km from the sea. At least three beaches are easily accessible. The nearest is the town of Bouka (the village beach), for the others you have to cross the dense olive forests that characterize the island's countryside. Any place at the sea can be reached on foot (if you love walking and especially if it's not hot) or, more easily, by bicycle (there are five available in the house), by car and finally also by boat, since in the center of the village there is a navigable canal (even for medium boats) that is no more than 50 meters from the house. In the private courtyard behind the house there are two parking spaces. The house is built on two floors. On the first floor there is a large veranda from which you enter a large living room-kitchen from which you can also access a bedroom (2-3 seats). There is also a service toilet at this level. From the living room, through a staircase, you can access the upper floor (attic) where there are two bedrooms (one double bed; and two single beds plus one bed for small children) and one large bathroom (equipped with bathtub). There are about 100 square meters walkable throughout. The house is equipped with all the necessary linens as well as by phone, internet, washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator, oven in addition to all the kitchen tools. There's air conditioning upstairs. Unfortunately, the existing (immovable) architectural barriers make it not suitable for people with disabilities.
