This 2nd floor luxurious suite includes walking access to the Lake Erie shore. Secluded location offers a unique experience while being only 10 min. away from vibrant neighborhoods such as downtown Cleveland, Ohio City, and University Circle.

The space
Relax and unwind in your own 17’x17’ private bedroom suite featuring an ornate queen size bed. The recently remodeled en suite private bath has all new fixtures and a large walk-in glass tiled luxury shower. Enjoy a 40” flat screen TV above the wood burning fireplace with a wooded view through large North facing windows. The colorful interior décor includes antique furniture, oriental rugs on hardwood floors, original artwork and “flow blue” pottery from the owner’s extensive collection.

Guest access
Besides the 2nd floor suite, guests will have access to the first floor formal living spaces of our newly renovated home. Built in 1920, this stone English Country style manor features a gracious Foyer with original working elevator, large wood paneled Living Room, elegant formal Dining Room and spacious tiled Garden Room full of indoor trees and flowering plants. During the spring and summer months, feel free to stroll the outdoor gardens and relax on the shaded stone terrace.

Guests enter through the front door where an adjacent private parking space is always reserved especially for them. From the Lower Foyer, continue through the Upper Foyer to a wide wooden stairway and landing that features a two story leaded glass Palladian window. The 2nd floor suite is at the end of a large Upper Foyer Hall that serves as a gallery space and library for the owner’s collection of art and architecture books. Because of the spacious floor plan and solid masonry construction, our home offers a quiet casual atmosphere year round for our guests to enjoy.

Keys for both the main front entrance door and the 2nd floor suite will be provided to our guests for entering and exiting the property as needed according to their own schedule.

Other things to note
Please be aware that several cats and two friendly dogs live with us on the premises. Although we are very thorough and diligent with respect to our house cleaning duties, this may present a problem to anyone who is overly sensitive or allergic to such an environment. Also, smoking is not permitted within the house or on the property.

Location

Cleveland, Ohio, United States

The village of Bratenahl was founded over 100 years ago as a country retreat for many of Cleveland’s most prestigious and wealthy families. Located along 3 miles of the Lake Erie shore, Bratenahl has managed to preserve both its original charm and great natural beauty. Our home is located at the end of Corning Drive, which was developed soon after World War I. To the North is a short but scenic walking path that allows our guests private access to Lake Erie. Our property is heavily wooded on two sides bordering Dugway Creek to the East and a protected nature preserve to the South. The abundant wildlife, migratory bird populations and towering old growth trees make this area uniquely beautiful amidst the sprawl of the surrounding city.

Within a 10 min. drive in any direction are a variety of lively neighborhoods and cultural institutions to experience. To the East is the Waterloo art and music district featuring the Beachland Ballroom, vintage record stores, various bars and several restaurants. University Circle to the South includes the campus of Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Museum of Art and Severance Hall, home of the world renowned Cleveland Orchestra. Other noted attractions are the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Cleveland Botanical Gardens and the Western Reserve Historical Society museum. The two major medical centers, Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals, are also part to the University Circle area. Nearby is Little Italy, an older ethnic neighborhood with many restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and galleries. Approximately five miles to the West is downtown Cleveland which offers a wide array of professional sports and entertainment venues. Vibrant destination type areas such as Playhouse Square, East 4th Street, Tremont, West 25th Street and the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood are all easily accessible by car or public bus transportation.
Locally, Bratenahl offers some great walking and biking experiences to see the old historic lakeside estates and mansions. For those who choose to explore the area on their own, we include (2) bicycles available for your use at no extra cost.

John is an Architect and I'm a retired teacher, although I still sub. We both love to travel and new adventures are a favorite of ours. We are both very busy with daily life. John designing, keeping our pets content, cooking, tennis, reading and being our resident handyman. I'm always off feeding feral cats, working out, tennis, lunch dates with close friends, reading and baking. Both of us have always loved meeting new people with different backgrounds and views. So we usually stay at B&B's and lately a couple of Airbnb's. Our experiences have always been fabulous. Here's hoping you will love our beautiful home, gardens, and a new experience by staying with us.
