House Rules

The tiny home on wheels is set on a horse boarding/riding facility. It is close to the outdoor/indoor arena and horse corrals. Horses have odors. There are dogs, barn cats amongst other animals. Hence one must love animals. The home has both propane and electric (Envi) heat, propane hot water and propane range. There is a hose which supplies water to the home. There is a Nature's Head composting toilet ((URL HIDDEN) which you can watch video's on Youtube so you understand how it works. If you don't feel comfortable using the composting toilet there is a clean portable outhouse about 75' away next to the indoor arena. Conservation is key to living in a tiny home which means keeping your water intake to a minimum, plus we are in a drought. There are two 40 gallon propane tanks. The wooden ladder slides on a metal bar which should be used as a grab bar to help you go up and down the ladder. There is a light switch in the loft to the right of the window near the kitchen and a light switch to the right of the kitchen which turns on/off the kitchen light. This is my home and I'm opening it up to you to enjoy and understand what tiny living is all about. Normally I will meet you but if I can't, call/text me. There will be a full manual for your review. If you want to bring your horses there will be an additional fee for overnight boarding. It's very easy to live here and I hope you appreciate it.

You must also acknowledge
Must climb stairs - Ladder up to sleeping loft
Potential for noise - People riding horses and horses whinnying.
Pet(s) live on property - I have 2 horses, but property owners owns and boards horses. Barn cats, dogs and dwarf goats roam the property

We loved staying in this tiny house. Location was near enough to town while still being secluded. Maria was great helping us avoid any forest fires/smoke on our drive in and welcomed us when we arrived. We would definitely stay here again.

Adorable tiny house! Located right by a horse farm and an elk farm is around the corner. Very cool to wake up and walk out to pet the horses and see the mountain scenery in the background. Everything was just as Maria described and she left thorough guidelines for both the house and the surrounding area.

Thank you Natalie. I'm sorry I missed you but I'm glad everything worked out. I have decided to sell it and move back to New England this Fall.

Maria's tiny home was fantastic! It was just as listed first off, and Maria was so sweet & thorough at explaining how everything worked! The location was beautiful & we woke up to amazing sunrises everyday. The horses were so cute! It was close enough to Whitefish to not be too much of a jaunt going into town for food/coffee and convenient enough to drive into Glacier each day & back without it taking ages. It was fun getting to live the tiny home life for a couple days--we loved it! ❤️

Hello, I'm a sustainable designer who helps people redesign their home using an eco-friendly approach. I have two horses-they are my kids. In November 2014, after selling the family home in Groton, MA (where I was an Airbnb host) I embarked on a 6 month solo road trip around the USA, exploring our beautiful country and staying at very cool properties. After coming back to work on a few projects, I decided to move to Whitefish MT in the Rocky Mountain high. Packed up my Prius, shipped out my horses and went west. I travel a fair amount and write about my experiences In The Company of None: The Joys of Traveling Solo.

I've designed a custom tiny home on wheels with Brian Olson of Lost Creek Construction and I'm now living in it on his property and renting it out to people who want to understand tiny home living. It is on a horse ranch in Kalispell near Whitefish, where they board, train and teach riding lessons. You can bring your horses and ride for miles. It overlooks the Whitefish, Swan and Glacier National Park Mountain Ranges.

I will be moving back to New England in the Fall and selling my Tiny Home on wheels. I will fondly remember this time spent in it and NW Montana.

My motto: Life is short take the road less traveled for it will open up to new adventures.
