Looking over the Saanich Inlet near Victoria, BC is Morningside Glass House. A beautiful West Coast contemporary designed home. Floor to ceiling windows, vaulted ceilings, surrounding gardens and an amazing ocean view are here to welcome you.

The space
Located just off of the Malahat, Morningside Glass House provides a secluded escape but still just minutes from Langford with all the shopping and amenities required.
There are three houses on the property the main house and the glasshouse which you have rented plus the home I live in. The main house is down closer to the water. Guests in this house will drive past the home you have rented. Only the roof is visible from your rental house. There are two shared areas, the dock and the large grassy area that has a trampoline for the kids to enjoy.
Bedroom configuration Glasshouse:

Things to bring
The floors in the house are tiled and cold so you may wish to bring slippers. If you are booking in early spring or late fall bring warm sweaters to wear in the house the humid coastal air makes it feel cooler, then it is. The house has a full two-story wall of windows and more then one-third of the roof is skylights if you need a dark room to sleep in please bring a blackout sleep mask.
Drinking Water
The property is on well water and has great tasting water, help the planet by not buying bottled water.
Quiet Time at Morningside:
Even though we are in a very secluded area, the music travels up the hillside to the neighbours. Quiet music on the deck is Ok if it gets too loud I will ask you to move the music inside.
Kayaks
You will have access to the dock to use the 2 single kayaks and a double Kayak. If you wish to rent more kayaks, canoes and paddleboards call Pacific Paddle at 250 665 7411 http://www.pacificapaddle.com/ they will deliver by water to Morningside’s dock.
Water Sport Waiver
Please have any guests that wish to use the kayaks sign the sports waiver available on your arrival. You can give this to me the evening of check-in.
Firepit:
There is a fire pit on the cement pad that can be used in the spring and fall. In the summer months, there will most likely be a fire ban. Please check with me or go on line for updated information.
Access:
Access to Morningside is by way of a shared private driveway, the steep one km long has five switchbacks. If you are renting a vehicle, renting an all wheel drive or 4-wheel drive will make your stay more enjoyable. Please do not rent a small economy car driving back up the driveway is difficult for this type of vehicle.
Things to Do
Need help planning your vacation. Check out my online Guide, go to the first page of my listing scroll down past the reviews and you will see it
Butchart gardens and Saanich inlet:
There is a company that will come right to Morningside’s dock and pick you up to take you on a tour of the inlet and then drop you off at Butchart gardens. On Saturday nights in the summer months, there are fireworks and it is well worth your time and money to go and see them. By taking the boat you will miss all the crazy traffic. You can find information by going to http://www.ecocruising.com/.
Whale watching trip leave from Sidney and Victoria, if you go on a zodiac the trip will be rougher than a boat. If any of your family gets sea sick a boat would be more suitable.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire house (except for the garage) Outside you will be able to enjoy the scenery at various spots including a patio area wrapping two sides of the house, perfect for a family BBQs and gatherings. A decorative pond and large play area which is great for small bikes and scooters. You will have access to the shared grassy area between three homes which has a space for playing badminton and bocce ball. The trampoline is down at the dock from here you can have use of the double kayak or 2 single kayaks to explore the surrounding inlet.

Other things to note
Please note that the house can sleep up to 12 guests but there are only two bathrooms.
Morningside’s steep gravel driveway is 1 km long with 5 switchbacks. Most front wheel drive cars will make it down. Driving back up with a full car may be difficult if you have an economy front wheel drive vehicle. Please feel free to call me about this. If you are renting cars make sure to make these arrangements as soon as you can to guarantee rental availability.

As the climate in Victoria is so mild, it is a welcomed destination for many. Warm summers and winters with little to no snow, the outdoors can be explored all year round. There are many hiking trails, provincial parks, lakes and the ocean shore to discover. Alternatively, you can drive into the downtown core and experience the many historical buildings, the Inner Harbour or venture out to Sidney to visit the ever popular Butchart Gardens and Butterfly World.
