The Hilltop is the largest of the 3 wilderness cabins, but furthest from the washroom.

The cabins sleep two people, with a personal fire pit, bbq, kitchenette, drinking water (although no running water), and all the amenities needed to spend a few nights in nature.

The shared outdoor bathroom has been hand crafted with lots of natural light, a composting toilet (i.e. non-flushing), hot water shower and two sinks.

The space
Enjoy the beauty of both the forest and the ocean on this 4 acre property off the Cabot Trail. The space is perfect for those who love nature and rustic vibes. Think glamping - but not luxury geodome glamping.

The whole property is essentially on a hill. The Hilltop cabin is at the top of the hill - closest to the road with parking available directly in front of the cabin. The shared washroom requires walking down a steep hill, and the waterfront is a few minutes further down. The paths are not suitable for people with mobility issues and potentially seniors.

There is a path down to a look off, where you can enjoy incredible views of the sunset overlooking the bay. Be prepared to get that heart rate up on the walk back to the cabin!

From the look-off there is a narrow rocky trail that brings you right down to the water with two kayaks. Guests can paddle at their own risk but it is only advisable when the water is calm which is usually early in the morning or before sunset.

Guest access
The property is shared with guests in the cabins and cottage.
You have private access to your cabin.
You share the outdoor bathroom with up to 4 guests from the other cabins.
All guests (up to 10 other) have access to the trails, hammock area, and the waterfront.

Other things to note
The location is ideal for kickstarting your Cabot Trail journey! Drive the full Cabot Trail during your stay or check out the nearby activities:

- explore waterfalls (Uisge Bàn Falls 30 mins)
- rent boats or seadoos in Baddeck (20 mins away)
- join a kayak tour with North River Kayak Tours (30 mins away)
- enjoy waterfront restaurants and shops in Baddeck (20 mins away)
- take a puffin boat tour (15 mins away)
- grab an ice cream or seafood dinner at the Lobster Galley Restaurant (3 mins away)
- relax on your deck or enjoy the sunsets with an ice cold drink (0 mins away)

Important update: As of August 5th, Nova Scotia has temporarily restricted travel and activities in the woods due to wildfire risk. We’ve confirmed with the province this does not impact your ability to stay at the cabins or enjoy the waterfront. While hiking is currently off-limits, there are still plenty of ocean-based activities to enjoy like kayaking, tubing, boat tours, and whale watching. By August 17th our fire pits will be replaced with propane fire pits, allowing you to safely enjoy a bonfire during this time.
Hopefully, rain will arrive soon so all activities can resume as normal.
