The space

Our House

We are renting out our lovely Victoria home in Streatham, South London. 3 bedrooms consisting of a master bedroom, a spare room with a double bed and a nursery with a cotbed and a children's bed. We also have a spare travel cot and everything else you need if traveling with children.

The house style is contemporary, eclectic and quirky, full of new and vintage pieces, with books piled high in most rooms (in both English and Danish). End of a quiet leafy road rows of red brick Victorian terraced homes of historical significance - great if you want to be charmed by 'the real London!' :-)

We also have a lovely cosy garden with garden furniture, parasol and BBQ. .

Excellent transport links.....

Only half an hour from Gatwick Airport by train, all other airports can be accessed easily via public transport via train and (website hidden) Pancras International/Kings Cross direct train only 40mins. Or very cheap local taxi companies can take you anywhere for a fraction of the price of an official London black cab,

Central London Connections

Streatham Common Station is at the end of our street with fast connections to London Victoria, (Buckingham Palace) London Bridge and West London (including Shepherds Bush for Westfield Shopping Centre- the largest in Europe).

7 min walk to Streatham Station which connects us to London Bridge, Blackfrairs (for the Southbank, St Paul's Catherdral and the Tate Modern) and the City and Kings Cross/St Pancras (for the Eurostar)

2 min walk to our local park, Streatham Common which has a beautiful garden called the Rookery one of South London's hidden Gems. Lots of green spaces nearby - the main reason people choose to live South of the River Thames! (compared to built up, Claustrophobic North London ;-))

Great local pubs, friendly and full of interesting activities like craft fairs and farmers markets and a famous jazz club (the Hideaway).
Also the buzz of Brixton and Streatham Hill just down the road with cinemas, arty markets, bars, cool cafes, fantastic food and lots of live music if you fancy a busy night life.

Languages: both Danish and English spoken

New to Air BnB so be the first to book our room!

You can also rent out just the spare room for £ 38 see seperate listing.

Guest access

The whole house and our cosy garden

Interaction with guests

We wont be there but will be available on the phone at any time you need us. On some occasions we may be able to meet you on arrival to show you around.

The neighbourhood

Our house is located near Streatham and Streatham Common Stations. The area has developed a nice local community feeling in recent years and with that quite a few new pubs and cafes have opened. A two minute walk away you will find Streatham Common Park, but best of all - at the top of Streatham Common you will find the Rookery, a charming little garden and great views over South London. Shopping is convenient with a large Sainsburys three minutes walk away and a Tescos five minutes walk

Getting around

There are very frequent trains to central London from both Streatham Common and Streatham Station. Getting to Streatham Common from Gatwick Airport is easier by train than taxi and only takes about 35 minutes.

There are many buses straight into Central London from Streatham High Road which is 2 mins from us. The 159 bus will take you straight to Big Ben or the West End.

If you download the Uber app its a very affordable way to travel by taxi, half the price of normal taxis.

Other things to note

There is on street free parking.

Lou and Shaff's place was exactly what we needed - somewhere to call home for a few days, that was welcoming to small kids and easy to access from King's Cross. Upon arrival we found a tray of treats (milk, breakfast, beer, even Kinder Eggs for the kids) which was a really kind touch. A handy welcome pack explained the local area - it's right round the corner from Streatham Common, where we spent a happy few hours letting the kids run off steam! As a bonus, the house is absolutely beautiful - a really stunning family home, clean and well-equipped. It was a pleasure to cook in the kitchen. We loved the giant map upstairs! In short, Lou and Shaff were wonderful hosts, promptly answering any queries we had and warmly opening up their home to make our family break easy and enjoyable. We wouldn't hesitate to book again if they'll have us! Thanks Lou and Shaff

This was the second time our family has stayed in this fantastic home. All the arrangements with Lou were straight forward. For a visit, between Christmas and New Year there were some lovely Christmas decorations and mince pies to welcome us. We have all really enjoyed our London Christmas visit. This house is so close to train stations for getting into Central London and we had a great walk across to The Rookery on Streatham common. Thank you.

Me and my family have spent entire Christmas in the house and we had the most amazing time. Everything was lovely and it was a great experience. The house was beautifully decorated. It was very warm and cosy, gave us a true 'home' feeling. We did not meet the hosts in person, however they stayed in touch the entire time and we had no trouble communicating at all! We would definitely consider going back again.
