A quaint cabin tucked into the pines, beside Lewis creek, and a stroll away from a historic mill pond. Close to Yosemite's South Gate, Nelder Grove, Bass Lake, and Oakhurst. 1 BR + bonus bed in common area, 1 bathroom. A true mountain getaway!
This small cabin in the pines is the mountain getaway for a retired race-car driver/former Yosemite ranger and his wife. The building is about 100 years old and began as part of the Sugar Pine Lumber Mill as the community dance hall (feel free to bust out with a little boogie while you're there) then was later renovated into a residential cabin. This cabin has been in the family for 3 generations and counting so it's a special place for all of us to visit.
There is a common living space that includes a dining table that seats 4 (or 5 if you like to be super cozy), a wood stove, a full kitchen with utensils, a couch, a small flatscreen tv, wifi, AND an additional full bed in a little nook. There is also a full bathroom with a shower/bath tub and two vanities. The cabin has a cozy bedroom with a queen bed. There's a small patio with a barbecue and outdoor chairs, all beside an open space where you can play games (bring your own!) like cornhole, etc. The cabin is small-(approx. 620 sq ft) who needs a large living space when nature is outside?!--but open, clean, and well loved.
The cabin is in close proximity to both nature and restaurants:
8 miles from Yosemite's South Gate
20 miles to Yosemite’s historic village of Wawona (stagecoach rides, golf, dining, pioneer history center, horseback rides, etc.)
3 miles to the Sugar Pine Railroad
10 miles to the Giant Sequoias at the Mariposa Grove
11 miles to Bass Lake (boating, swimming, fishing)
9 miles to Oakhurst (many restaurants, grocery stores, art galleries, etc.)
5 miles to Nelder Grove
At 4500 elevation, our evenings are a cool reprieve from summer heat, and filled with the soothing sound of the creek, frogs, and crickets (i.e., bring a sweatshirt or light jacket).
*Act now and we'll throw in the earth-tastic scents of a pine forest! AND, if you're really lucky, on cool mornings, you might catch a whiff of the cozy fragrance of neighborhood fireplaces and fried bacon. BYOB (Bring Your Own Bacon).
Guests have access to the living areas--the living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, patio, etc.

My varied experiences include: I graduated from Fresno State, was a Helitack crewman (Rescue and Firefighting by helicopter), Ski Patrolman, Horse Patrol Ranger-all in Yosemite National Park, Lineman for the local phone co., Race Car driver, I owned a Pizza parlor in Sun Valley, ID., and presently enjoy having a vacation rental. :)
As a kid, I was raised in California's Bay Area but spent summers with my 3 sisters at our family's home in Sugar Pine. Later I got to watch my daughter grow up in the same spot with her cousins visiting from time to time. I recently married a beautiful (inside and out!) woman whose grandfather sold my grandfather one of the first Harley Davidson motorcycles in the county in decades past.
