The space

Brickyard is an in-town temporary stay located in Waynesville, North Carolina named for the many bricks found along the bank it shares with rushing Richland Creek.

The bricks, imprinted with Ironton Clayton, Remmey, A.P. Green, Ozark D.P., were undoubtedly placed by the originial owners to protect the circa 1890 dwelling from flood.

Brickyard is fully furnished, 1087 square feet, with two bedrooms and one and one-half baths. It has all the modern conveniences (except a dishwasher): wi-fi, cable, heating & air-conditioning, and washer & dryer. For those who prefer mountain-air drying, there is a combination laundry line/hammock alongside the rustic creekside cabana and small fire pit.

Walking distance to National Historic Districts Main Street and Frog Level and easy access to Highway 23/74, Brickyard is convenient to everything for visitors enjoying a weekend trip or those relocating to the area and needing a month or two stay to familiarize themselves with the many charms Waynesville has to offer.

Guest access

Situated on a .60 acre flat lot with easy driveway access (and carport for one vehicle) and sidewalks directly off the front walkway make Brickyard an any-season residence.

Located two doors down from Judge Frank's, a National Register-listed and local landmark property, which sleeps eleven and can entertain fifty, Brickyard may also serve as overflow for a family desiring privacy from the larger crowd.

Interaction with guests

We live locally and are happy to assist guests with anything.
Maximum Occupancy: 6-person maximum at all times . Guests will restrict occupancy to the 6- person limit at all times. If guests exceed occupancy limits, this will result in immediate eviction, loss of refundable damage deposit and all rent will be forfeited.
Brickyard is situated in close proximity to Richland Creek which has rushing water of variable depths.
There is NO lifeguard.
SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK. It is advised to use life vest at all times; one small, medium and large life vest is provided and can be found in the cabana. All children must be supervised by an adult when nearing or
entering the water. The grounds to the creek are uneven due to natural and manmade disturbances. People should exhibit great care in this area.

Absolutely no hosting of events, house parties, bridal showers, baby showers, youth groups, fraternities, sororities,
weddings, receptions, or parties allowed. We do not rent to persons under the age of 25 years of age, even if a parent or legal adult makes the reservation and/or pays the rent. If such a group attempts to occupy the property, without written approval, all monies will be forfeited and guests will be asked to vacate the property immediately.

Other things to note

Eat-in kitchen with seating for six.
Living room has large sectional sofa.
Full bath has stand-up shower with detachable shower head
Half bath is located inside back door
Front porch faces Smathers Street and sidewalks
Backyard is large and flat with rustic creekside cabin and fire pit (complete with stacked wood and kindling)

This was a great little house about a two minute drive to downtown Waynesville. You can tell the owners have several projects going to fix up the place, but none that bothered us. The house was spotless upon arrival.

This cottage was so cute! We cannot believe how clean everything was. Ginny definitely added a special touch. The kitchen had anything you could think of, extra towels, and blankets. The view on the river was so peaceful! The cottage was so close to everything, and the local town was so cute. My mom and I had a great and wonderful stay, we would definitely come back again!

Response from Ginny:
Samantha, thank you for choosing Brickyard for you, your mom and your dog. Yes, Brickyard is an example of how clean a pet-friendly home-away-from-home can be. Can't wait to have you, your mom and your Blue Ribbon Winner back again (news travels fast and you were a big hit with the neighbors!). So glad you enjoyed beautiful Waynesville and had success at the dog show.

Brickyard is very comfortable and homey feeling. You can walk straight up the street to Miller and reach Main Street, if you enjoy walking. The house was immaculately clean and the beds are very comfortable. Flannel sheets! We missed having a toaster. But all the kitchen dishes and tool items provided were excellent. A small nonstick skillet would be welcome for fixing morning eggs for two. Thank you for your quiet setting for our stay!!!

Response from Ginny:
Thank you for pointing out Brickyard's "immaculately clean" condition. We work so hard and you make it all worth while with your recognition. And thank you for your conscientiousness in leaving Brickyard so clean yourself! Wow! Please do come again. Rest assured, the issues you faced (missing toaster! my goodness! and some missing channels have been remedied). Also, we are getting a Teflon-pan-for-two just for you in hopes you visit again. Fingers crossed. And next time, should you face any quirks, please call us. We live a hop, skip and jump from Brickyard and actually knocked on the door when we were there watering plants but you were not at home. It would have been a pleasure to meet you. . . and help you immediately. It is our job and our joy!

It was convenient for 3 guys on a motorcycle trip. We each had our own bedroom and 2 bathrooms to share. My wife would have been very unhappy.

Response from Ginny:
I can't imagine why your wife didn't join you on your Three-Best-Buds-Motorcycle tour of Waynesville. What was she thinking? Nevertheless, thank you for visiting and please tell your wife Brickyard serves wonderfully for ladies' weekends as well! Tell her to book this same time next year so she and her friends can get some freshly-cut magnolia blossoms too (did you guys notice the freshly-cut magnolia blossoms?).

Response from Ginny:
Scott, Thank you for your positive review. After a busy vacation with children visiting Waynesville and the surrounding areas, it means a lot that you took the time to review Brickyard. If I was you, I would have been too tired to write a review. Aren't you supposed to take a vacation after a vacation like that? Do come again, glad you had fun.
