This place was amazing! The hosts were great and very accommodating. The house had everything you would need right down to little baskets with bathroom amenities in the bathrooms. The neighborhood is amazing...right near great trails and lakes and close to great areas of Minneapolis. Perfect for a family vacation.

Jim and Cindi’s house is charming and the location is great. The neighborhood is in the city and close to everything, but also quiet with a “beach neighborhood” feel since it is very close to the lakes. The house has everything you could possibly need and is very clean. The hosts were extremely responsive and accommodating and we enjoyed our stay.

Our extended family enjoyed a wonderful week-long get-together at Jim and Cindie's house. Jim and Cindie are warm and accommodating hosts, and the house manages to be both a design showplace and a comfortable and inviting place to live. We happily made ourselves at home in the fully-equipped kitchen (unlike many airbnb's, you can actually cook a real meal here- since this is Jim and Cindie's home it is well stocked with all the basics like olive oil and spices) and enjoyed many wonderful hours on the spacious deck and in the lovely and serene back yard. The house backs on a bicycle/walking trail that goes around the chain of lakes, and is steps away from water access; and Jim and Cindie made both bicycles and a canoe available for our use. Jim and Cindie were great hosts- they left a detailed packet of instructions for the house, were readily available by phone when needed, but were not intrusive. Two notes: We were 3 generations and our group included small children. Jim and Cindie are themselves family friendly and advertise the house as such, but it's not really an ideal set-up for young children. No problems for us-since the weather was great and the deck and garden were so inviting it all worked out fine. Also note that the neighborhood is a maze of winding one-way streets: walking (and kids playing!) there is fabulous, and it keeps the neighborhood quiet, but getting in and out of the neighborhood in a car is complicated, especially the first few times!

This is hands down the best vacation rental that we have had in MN and we've been coming back to visit relatives for many years.

We so loved staying in Jim and Cindie's beautiful home in the Lakes area in Minneapolis! The home is spectacular and designed beautifully yet also warm and comfortable. Everything we needed was provided and it was easy to check in and check out...we loved our time there and were sad to see it end. The neighborhood is also wonderful and quiet yet active. We will stay here again anytime we come back to getting to know the owners, too!

Before we even got there, Jim made us feel welcome with his messages. He was the most responsive host i've had. When we got there he gave us the tour, but also had a notebook prepared for us that told us where things were and how they worked. The book included a map with locations on it that we had specifically asked about. The home was fabulous! When we were to meet family and friends for events, we had them come to the house to pick us up so we could show it off. Besides going out to a number of really good restaurants, we ate more meals at the home than we originally planned because our foodie, David, described working in the kitchen as a dream. The house, for being such a designer showcase, was completely livable. The one knock we had about the house was that on the hot Minnesota days, the upstairs bedrooms were a bit warm. You will use the oscillating fans that are provided. The bedroom on the bottom floor was completely cool though. And my one real complaint was that we didn't allow enough time to stay here. They have access to the trails around the lakes right out their backyard and i wish we allowed extra time to explore and to use the canoe and bikes they make available. In conclusion, this place was fabulous and really helped make this vacation special for us.

Thank you so much for this lovely review Keithen! I'm really sorry about the air conditioning on the upper floor. I guess we're so used to it that we just don't pay much attention. We don't really like air conditioning that much and even on warm nights we like to have the windows open with the fan going on us. I think that living in California has weakened you a bit, no more hearty Minnesotan! :) I promise you that the next time you come I'll have it properly adjusted! Be well and come back!!

Hi, we are Jim and Cindie and we are both business owners and have lived in Minneapolis most of our 46 years of marriage. We are heavily involved in our community and belong to many non-profit boards of directors. Jim is an architectural designer and owns a business that designs retail stores and restaurants all over the world. Cindie owns a complex litigation support firm and she too is involved in work all over the world. These businesses have given us an opportunity to travel the world for both work and pleasure, and we love travel!
Our one and only child, Casey is an up and coming chef in New York City and is currently the Executive Chef at a really wonderful restaurant in the Flatiron District. Jim, who is a very good cook in his own right, likes to think that she acquired her skills from him, but the truth is he is learning lots more from her!

Our Minneapolis home in the beautiful Kenwood neighborhood is very well situated for a great urban stay. We are close to our beloved biking and walking trails, (right out our back gate,) and our wonderful lakes! We're a nice 45 minute walk to downtown and about twenty minutes from the Uptown area with many restaurants and movie theaters as well as live theaters.

Our home in the Catskill Mountains of Upstate New York is about as opposite as we could get! Nestled into the northern Catskills The Chalet is very secluded and surrounded by beautiful trees. There is also a wonderful rushing mountain stream that we call Casey Creek! The house is very unique in its design and construction and has many wonderful features such as a soaring vaulted ceiling of Douglas Fir logs and a great kitchen!

While our home in Minneapolis has been featured in numerous design magazines, our home in the Catskills hasn't YET! (Stay tuned!)
