A cosy double room + a separate cool kids mezzanine room located in a charming cobbled square with cafés + restaurants on the river just 8 min walk from fashionable Kings Road, Chelsea.
a traditional Georgian London building (built 1760) located in a charming cobbled square next to the river + opposite Chelsea Harbour, 8 mins walk from the fashionable shopping of The King's Rd, Chelsea. The characterful square is full of life: 4 boutique restaurants + cafés, cocktail bar, jazz club, local food store + a traditional English pub. Don't want to cook? Gordon Ramsay's acclaimed new restaurant, London House, is just meters from the apartment door!
If you want complete privacy during your stay the 'Entire Place' is available via another listing ('Cool apartment, large roof terrace' found on my Profile)
had not been decorated since 1969 - I redesigned, stripped + rebuilt the space myself (introducing a double height sitting room, a 'minstral's gallery' mezzanine bedroom above it, oak floors throughout, new kitchen, concealed large TV, new bath + shower room, central heating, plantation blinds + large roof terrace). My building site was my bedroom + the project a labour of love!
The 'DOUBLE ROOM' is cosy + quiet (located at the building's rear) with a small river view. An antique French farmhouse double bed (220cm wide), oak floor, hanging wardrobes, reading lamps, cupboard storage, wifi, power, clean towels, extra blankets. Decor, mattress + all new linen (cotton linen, allergy free pillows, orthopaedic mattress). Additional inflatable single bed available for small children.
The 'MOUSEHOLE MEZZANINE' bedroom is separate + available by request, starting from £35 if booked with the 'Double Room'. Kids love the low ceiling space: up a ladder + through a hatch, the room has a window overlooking the roof garden, a traditional box bed (small double 210cm wide, orthopaedic mattress, 100% cotton linen), reading lights, cupboard storage, wifi, power, clean towels, extra blankets + a very low ceiling! The room is a 'Minstrels' Gallery' (see photos) + the double bed can't be seen from the sitting room below. Two additional inflatable single beds available.
GARDEN ROOF TERRACE…
A sheltered + private space with a lawn, olive trees, vines + herbs. A bistro style table with cafe chairs allows guests to enjoy a coffee outside. Accessed via a five step ladder.
BATH + SHOWER ROOM...
The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, clean towels + a hairdryer.
Breakfast is included: fresh coffee, choice of teas, orange juice, cereal + muesli selection, a home baked loaf, toast with marmalades, jam and honey, Greek yoghurt with a selection of fresh fruits.
'Mousehole Mezzanine' room / 'Double Room' (depending on which rooms are booked), kitchen (washer dryer, oven cooker with hob and grill, fridge, toaster, kettle, iron, ironing board), bath + shower room (towels, shampoo, conditioner, guest soaps, hairdryer), sitting room (library, extensive DVD collection – many children's movies, international power adaptors, wifi) + roof garden (table with outdoor seating). NB. There is no access to the freezer.
Interaction with guests
I'm normally available for questions. Ask me – I've lived London 30 years
Other things to note
Checkin is at 5pm. However, sometimes (+ with notice) it is possible for guests to arrive early to drop bags. Either I or my cleaner can leave work for an hour to meet you, let you in, give you keys and take your bags. The rooms will not be ready + you will not have access to them. We charge £15 for travel + time (cheapest single London Underground journey being £4.60).
99% of the time I will be at the apartment during your stay to prepare your breakfast + answer questions regarding travel + tourist destinations. However, if I am away during your stay, you can enjoy the 'Private Room' arrangement for the price of an 'Entire Place' + prepare your own breakfast (foods provided).

4. SECURITY: Never leave apartment without locking bedroom windows, I may access rooms to check windows before I go out

I have lived in many areas of London for 20 years and Battersea Square is the first and only with a local community and village atmosphere. So, it's a great place to experience living like a local Londoner.
I love meeting new people, especially from abroad, and hearing about their experiences and adventures. However if you want privacy, you've got it. Also if you want help with travel or tips on things to do, I'm your man and I would hope to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
