Temple Cottage is a surprising find, set in the centre of Brighton yet hidden from view between the terraces of the Clifton Hill conservation area. The Cottage is close to restaurants, cafe bars and shops and nearby to public transport links. It is within 200 yards of the seafront, the bandstand and near the i360. People like visiting the Cottage because of the ambiance, sea air and its handy location. The Cottage is good for couples, families, solo adventurers and business travellers.
Temple Cottage is a one bedroomed house in the centre of Brighton which was built in about 1840 and has been used for many purposes in the years since. Today, the Cottage is a fully equipped holiday home which still retains the character of its past.
Temple Cottage has its own street entrance which opens on to an old twitten, a Sussex word for an alleyway, which used to run through to a pub in the next street. The route of the old twitten leads through a shared courtyard and garden to the front door of the Cottage. On the ground floor of the Cottage the space is divided into three areas. The kitchen area has a fridge, microwave oven, electric hob, washing machine, toaster, kettle, cutlery, crockery, lots of cupboards, wine rack, work surfaces and a drop leaf table with seating for four people. The table can fold out to create a large flat surface and this is not only suitable for dining but also as a desk to work from or as a children's activity area. The living room area is lit with soft lighting and has a television and DVD with, easy chair, sofa bed, dresser and small library. Off the open plan area is a door leading to a separate downstairs cloakroom comprising a wc, wash hand basin and utility area.
The steep stairs wind around a corner leading to the large bedroom. This has a double bed, bedside cabinets, chest of drawers, a walk in wardrobe and separate storage and hanging space. Sliding doors open onto the decked sun terrace with plants and outdoor seating for four people. The main bathroom is off the bedroom and comprises, bath with an electric shower over, wc and wash hand basin.
There is comprehensive local information in the downstairs library along with information to help you settle into the Cottage. There is wi-fi available at no additional cost. Heating throughout the Cottage is by electric radiator or fan heater. Freshly laundered towels, bed linen etc are included in the price as is the cost of electricity.
Guests have sole use of the Cottage and all its amenities. The Cottage has its own lockable street entrance but access from there to the the lockable front door of the Cottage is via a courtyard space which is shared with the owner.
Interaction with guests
I will happily help my guests with local information, activities, transport, eating out and entertainment. I'm also mindful of the privacy of my guests and we usually get the balance about right.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable - I will happily accommodate most requests. The Cottage will be properly cleaned before you move in. Please try to leave it in as near to the same condition as how you found it. If small things get broken please tell me or I may not know I've got to replace them. The Cottage is not suitable for events, parties or hen and stag weekends. I like animals but please contact me first if you wish to bring a pet so that we can discuss any special arrangements. Please note that pets are not allowed upstairs. Please do not smoke or use candles inside the Cottage. Please try to keep to your agreed arrival and departure times as much as possible as I make other plans around these - if you need to make changes, please let me know. No unregistered guests unless previously agreed - the sofa bed is available for extra overnight visitors, if previously agreed and if the extra fee is paid beforehand. If you would like an unregistered friend to stay overnight whilst you are staying in the cottage, please just ask and pay the fee for an extra person.

I was born and bred locally and I love sharing the joy and excitement of being in Brighton with my guests. I have travelled to other parts of the world but I have always returned to Brighton as I believe it to be one of the most cosmopolitan and welcoming cities in the UK. I have spent many years working in social care and emergency planning and I hope I have developed a tolerant and accepting demeanour towards all people, whatever their backgrounds.
I speak English and a little Greek but I have friends who speak a range of languages. If you would like to speak in a language other than English, please let me know.
I want to make sure my guests have a delightful experience during their stay and I will always be responsive to anything I can do to help make your trip more enjoyable. I have a wealth of local information at my fingertips and it's always a pleasure to share this with guests who are interested in hearing another view to that which the guide books say.
