Charming lakefront log cottage with 2 BRs with double beds and a loft with 2 twin beds. Sunny southeast exposure on a large private property surrounded by lawn & woods (direct private beach access). Close by - large sandy beach, fishing dock, boat launch and handy Hnausa General Store.

Fun board games - Cribbage, Rumoli, Sequence and good old fashioned playing cards.

Interesting library of books for children, for bird watchers and for Manitoba history buffs. (Please do not remove any books).

The space
New in 2019 - Simon’s Beautyrest mattresses for comfortable sleeping experiences. New additional baseboard heating systems with thermostat controls - for extra comfort in early spring / late fall.

New in 2018 - Hammock on the front lawn. (Available July to Sept - please use at your own risk. Max 200 lbs). And a new path at the front left of the Log Cottage which leads north to a very nice private beach.

This is a real log cottage manufactured by Colonial Log Mills in 1984. The quaint cottage includes furnishings appropriate to cottage life plus modern conveniences you enjoy at home. Beds are of high quality and comfortable.

Views of the lake are spectacular with especially nice sunrise and evening lake views.

The front lawn is well suited for games of badminton, croquet or just relaxation in the shade or sunshine.

Guest access
Guests have access to an outdoor BBQ, beach access from the front lawn, deck chairs and dinning table, lawn chaise chairs, hammock, and access to nearby Hnausa dock for fishing and boat launch access. Hnausa Park is also close by for sandy shallow beaches.

Other things to note
We have two cottages on the property which we do use for parts of the summer season ourselves personally.

Each cottage has its own private beach access and semi private lawn space. The property is about four acres in size so there is plenty of room for space and privacy.

If your group requires accommodation for more than six guests you could consider renting both cottages if they are available for your dates.

Location

Hnausa, Manitoba, Canada

Our location is very private with a wide range of wild life including Bald Eagles, Pelicans, Deer and a range of other local birds and waterfowl.

A General Store has opened at Hnausa at the corner of Highway 9 and Highway 68 (the road to Arborg). This is a handy location (15 minute walk from the cottage) for general supplies including Propane for the BBQ if needed, ice cream, newspapers, groceries, authentic Icelandic gifts and a new eat in or take out restaurant.

Arborg is a quaint town located 16 Kms away (directly west of Hnausa on Hwy 68) which features a Public Waterslide pool for children and adults plus access to restaurants, Pharmacy/Liquor Store, grocery, gas station, Library, Post Office, CIBC bank, local pub/Hotel, Home Hardware and the Westshore Marine Store (Yamaha dealer).

Day trips to the Hecla Provincial Park are especially fun with visits to beautiful Gull Harbour and walks to the Gull Harbour lighthouse or to the limestone cliffs of Sunset Bay.

Hecla also offers an excellent public golf course with some holes overlooking Lake Winnipeg.

Our original family cottage (built in 1892) was located at the foot of the Gull Harbour bay. Sadly it was expropriated by the Province and demolished in 1972. In 1972 we purchased our land at Hnausa and started over again

I grew up in Winnipeg. We continue to own and use this lovely log cabin which was built and given to us by our mother. Our family has been cottaging on Lake Winnipeg since 1892 when our great Aunt Sarah Millidge built her first cottage at Gull Harbour on Hecla Island. Unfortunately this family heirloom was destroyed after it was expropriated by the Manitoba Government in 1972. Which led my mother to purchase the current property at Hnausa Manitoba.
