This place is fantastic, it's a roomy one-bedroom with a separate eat-in kitchen and a nice, large, clean bathroom. The neighborhood is chock-full of those NorCal Craftsman houses with redwood shingles, some of them are quite large, most of them are quite beautiful. Behind many of them, you'll find in-law houses and other rental structures, and this place is in such a back house. Looks like it was built much later than the front house, and it has the personality of a nice motel suite, somewhere you can set up shop for a day, a week, as long as your business requires. You can cook your meals here in the well-stocked kitchen, or you can stroll the two blocks to the main drag of Elmwood, a pleasant Berkeley neighborhood. Long story short, this apartment is on our short list for our next visit to Berkeley. It's fantastic!

It's a good place but a lot of stuff in the apartment is old!

Great listing! The place is clean and comfortable, spacious living room and bedroom. It's close to many restaurants and cafes (5 mins walk), UCB Campus (15-20 mins walk), grocery stores (10-15 mins walk), and BART (15-20 mins walk). Mary Kay is easy to communicate with, we had an issue with wifi connection during the stay, but she fixed it right away. Overall highly recommended.

I booked this for my 74 year old father and his girlfriend when they were visiting us for the weekend. They loved it and the location was great. Thanks so much!

Apartment is dated although it is clean. No parking in the area so need to drive over a mile to find overnight parking.

Response from Mary Kay:
I'm very sorry that Kate was confused as to the legal parking possibilities in my neighborhood, which are as outlined in the listing description. On my street there is almost always a parking spot within a few houses of my buildin,g and one is able to legally leave a car parked there overnight until 10am the following morning. Then, it could still be moved only half-block away to remain legal until noon. If for any reason the street is impacted for parking, the absolute furthest one would need to walk after parking is apprpoximately half a block. In fact, had she actually drove "over 1 mile" to park, traveling East she would have been back on Hwy 13. Traveling that distance West would have put her half-way to Hwy 80 and in a significantly different type of neighborhood. It also seems that Kate was confused as to the house numbers, unfortunately. Although I was awaiting her arrival on the driveway after she phoned, she could not find my building by number. The number is in bright gold letters on a field of black on the front of the house. She had received this number from me in advance. The apartment building (which is located in a quiet position behind the house) has a number which can be seen from the street as it is posted with large silver numerals on a black post halfway along the drive. Kate was walking about prior to arrival at the house and building next door. I'm truly sorry that this guest felt that the apartment is overpriced. Many guests have commented on its value as a quite roomy, comfy one-bedroom apartment located in the heart of Berkeley's most charming and desirable neighborhood, and a short walk to UC Berkeley.
