All about Donna’s place

Private apartment accommodation, with sauna access, for guests looking to relax and pamper themselves.

The space
Our former Spa Room has been converted to an entire 800 sq ft. Suite/Apartment. It has a comfy queen sized bed, in-suite sink and windows that open. It now features a 32" flat screened, satellite TV; fireplace; dining area and full kitchen, with microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, utensils, dishes, etc. Price includes continental breakfast and exclusive access to the three saunas and three levels of decking. With Covid, the hot tub has not yet been opened up. Depending how things look, opening it will be considered for the Fall. This because we do not use chlorine, but, rather bromine for sanitization.

Give yourself the gift of time away from the ordinary and come enjoy our relaxing space in rural Lanark.

Where you’ll be

Lanark, Ontario, Canada

Lanark Highlands offers a variety of things to see and do, including birding, cycling, hunting, fishing, golfing, driving tours and hiking trails. As well, skiing at Calabogie Peaks is just over a 1/2 hour away. We are fortunate to have several excellent golf courses within a half hour's drive. Surrounding lakes and rivers offer the ardent angler various challenges.

In normal times, we have festivals through out the year, including the Festival of the Maples in April, featuring our famous Maple Syrup in all its glory; The Stewart Park Festival - a free music festival that is in its 26th year, happens every July; The Blue Skies Festival on the first weekend of August, is in its 42nd year, and the Garlic Festival takes place in mid August; We boast the largest number of Lady Slippers Orchids anywhere in Canada, in full bloom in late June at Purdon's Bog, minutes away; The Perth Kilt Run happens annually, in June (ask us :-)...the list goes on.

For four decades, I have been an entrepreneur, having owned and managed a pet store, a B&B, a general store, a guest house and a farm. In 1999, I began working as an energy healer, which led to my work as a life coach, having achieved certification through the American University of NLP . Throughout, my life has revolved around my children and theirs. In 2007, I undertook what turned into a 68-day fast over the issue of uranium extraction in nearby Robertsville, ON. The effort resulted in a meeting with Ontario's Premier and highlighted my belief that we need to preserve this abundant planet for the generations to come, and that the world changes when we do. The Fall of 2010 found me walking the Camino; a 750 km trek from Pamplona to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, bringing me to an increased awareness of my place on the planet. Future plans include the conversion of my Ford Transit Cargo Van to a camper van for life on the road, along with an end-to-end-hike of the Bruce Trail with my youngest daughter. Along with my ex-partner, Cam Allen, we renovated the circa 1894 United Church, in Watson's Corners, using sustainable practices. The attached Sunday School space is now the one bedroom Sunday School Suite/Apartment. An 850+ sq ft addition birthed the Circa 1894 Spa, which, since Covid, has been turned into a second one bedroom Suite/Apartment, with the use of 3 saunas and 3 levels of decking. I thrive on connection and am thrilled to be offering guests and clients the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate in the beauty that is the Lanark Highlands.

During your stay

It used to be my goal to meet and greet guests as they arrive and to be available as much as possible to provide information. With Covid, my default is to keep my distance, but, as always, I will be guided by the needs of the guests, who differ as to how much involvement they prefer and I try to be sensitive to that.
