Our "gite" is a self-contained fully equipped cottage in the most beautiful part of Salt Spring, the south eastern tip, near Ruckle Park. From our cottage, you can walk to this historic working farm, walk its forested trails, and then head to the many beach areas a short distance away. Our sunny, welcoming get-away boasts comfy amenities and spectacular pastoral views. Farm stands, bakeries, cheese makers and art studios are nearby.

The space
The cottage is decorated in a French Country style. Doors open to covered decks and a lavender garden. Along with a full bathroom, including washer and dryer, there is an outdoor shower to enjoy in the summer months. A wonderful grass field surrounded by snake rail fences provides room to relax, have a barbecue or bird watch!
In the cottage there is a queen bed in one bedroom, and a second bedroom with a queen bed. We do welcome children but note that infants and children count in the maximum of 4. The cottage is most comfortable for 2-3 people. And while there is a large grass and garden area, and neighbours at a distance, we ask that people use gentle voices while outside, especially children.

Guest access
Guests have a private driveway and a parking area.

TRAVEL:
Most guests arrive through one of the 3 ferry terminals on Salt Spring Island (Long Harbour/ Tsawassen near Vancouver, Fulford Harbour/Swartz Bay near Victoria, Vesuvius/Crofton near Duncan). Check schedules as they change by the season. Reservations are needed for boats to/from Tsawassen/Vancouver. If you are coming from the mainland it is possible to transfer through Swartz Bay but you can't reserve the Fulford boat. Try to avoid the 5pm Fulford ferry as that is a commuter boat and often full. There are float planes from Vancouver to Ganges, and car rentals in Ganges at the Marina.
In order to enjoy Salt Spring and all it has to offer we recommend guests stay at least 3 nights. There is so much to do! Please note too that we have a minimum stay of 2 nights for a large portion of the year, but in the summer, Christmas holidays and on long weekends, we have a 3 (sometimes 4 or 5) night minimum.

Other things to note
We provide lots of breakfast supplies: eggs, bread, coffee, tea, milk, juice, fruit, butter, jam, granola, yogurt and fresh baking. We try to have Salt Spring and organic items for you where possible, depending on the season. We like to support Salt Spring and Vancouver Island businesses. Please take care of our cottage! A local islander said this season that our cottage was the best B and B on Salt Spring Island. We want to keep it that way! Hope you come and enjoy it.

Note to summer guests: Summer (July and August) minimum stay is adjusted from 2 day minimum to 3, 4 or 5 days. The 5 day minimum for July and August will be in place until May or if shorter periods are available between 5 night bookings.
Note to fall/winter/spring guests: Keep checking as we frequently lower our rates in the shoulder and low seasons. If you wish a longer winter getaway, send us a question by making an inquiry.

Our neighbourhood is comprised of many 5 acre properties. Many folks have large gardens, farm animals or dogs. Near us, you can visit the Salt Spring Bread Company and the Woodshed Picnic Supplies . Or, drive along Beaver Point Road and stop and the many roadside farm stands that boast flowers, baking, vegetables and more! A short drive takes you to renowned Salt Spring Cheese Co. There are numerous trails for walking, a beach access not too far away, and then just a 10 minute walk, the most fabulous park and campground in BC: Ruckle Provincial Park, that features farmlands with sheep, trails and spectacular beaches. During your stay
The entire property is 5 acres and our main house is located nearby. We are always accessible by phone or text. Usually we will greet you on your arrival or shortly after, and show you the ropes! (If not we will contact you by phone. ) We leave lots of information about the cottage and ideas for visiting, but we are pleased to answer any guest questions. We also know people like privacy, hence the self-catered breakfast. We do ask people to respect the neighbourhood tranquility when outside on decks or in the field.
