Come stay at our perfect home away from home while you explore Portland! The location is to die for - walking distance to all of downtown. Central to beaches & outdoor activities. Recently renovated head to toe. Gorgeous finishes, all new furniture. The only thing that isn't new are the windows because we're in the historic district and they won't let us change them! Think charming old mansions and historical architecture.

The space
This space is tranquil and convenient. Everything you could need, nothing you don't. It is a small apartment, but well laid out and comfortable. Everything is new as we recently renovated head to toe. The only thing we didn't update are the windows because we're in the historic district and the preserve board won't allow us to change them!

Guest access
Guests have access to a private apartment with it's own entry. They also have access to the driveway to park one car. As well they have access to the fire pit area out behind the house (seasonal from about April-November). We just ask that you keep the neighbors in mind and do not make loud noise after 9pm on weeknights and 10pm on weekends. Also, no unattended fires! Coin-op washer/dryer in the basement.

Other things included...
Shampoo/Conditioner/Body Wash/Lotion
Hair dryer
Clean sheets/blankets/towels
Beach towels
Stocked kitchen for cooking
Apple TV - NO CABLE TV
A/C
Off street parking
Iron and board
Spacious closet and dresser

Other things to note
I provide an extensive personal guide packet for Portland and the surrounding areas. This is not the stuff you'll find in tour books, or online. These are recommendations from me and my husband and our friends. Restaurants, bars, breweries, food and wine, beaches, hikes, walks, shops, day trips, indoor activities, sights to see, taxi companies that are reputable, etc. Our recommendations are pretty popular with our guests, and include little anecdotes about what we love about certain options, like if a restaurant is particularly gluten free friendly, or why we prefer one beach on a windy day over another, etc.

Location

Parkside, Portland, Maine

GREAT neighborhood! We are in the historic district and surrounded by beautiful old homes and brick mansions. We're also right around the corner from Longfellow Square, filled with great restaurants, bars, shops, small live music venues. Longfellow Sq is in the Arts district, home to Portland's best galleries and the Portland Art Museum. We neighbor the Old Port, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from our home. Here are some other landmarks that are helpful...

*** About 5 blocks from the Portland Museum of Art and handfuls of galleries.

*** Just a couple minutes any direction to great coffee shops, breakfast spots, and my personal favorites, Tandem and Holy Donut.

***Just a couple of blocks South of Deering Oaks Park and a couple of blocks North of the Western Promenade. Both are great parks for walking or watching the sunset.

*** Just a couple of blocks from Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital. A short 10-15 minute walk to USM and to the 3 grocery stores in Portland (Whole Foods, Hannaford, Trader Joes).

***A short 5 minute walk to the Seadogs Baseball Stadium and 10 minutes to the Civic Center.

***3.7 miles to the closest beach; 7-10 miles to 3 more beaches and Two Lights State Park on the ocean. 4 Miles to Fort Williams Park and Portland Head Light on the ocean.

*** 15-20 minute drive to the airport (about $15-20 for a taxi or Uber)

Hi. I'm Nova. I'm from New York City originally. I moved to Portland in 2009 thinking it was temporary, but I fell in love with life here and couldn't leave! I live with my husband, our wonderful daughter, and our goofy golden doodle. I'm a real estate broker specializing in the Greater Portland area, and I manage our 5 rental apartments in Portland, and our lakefront 4BR ski chalet in Bryant Pond, also available for rent. I am a passionate all in kind of person. Whatever I'm into, I tend to be deep into it. I've sailed across the Pacific and Atlantic oceans twice each and formerly held a USCG Merchant Marine license. I love literature and have taught creative writing classes for adult writers. I take continuing studies art classes at the Maine College of Art and woodworking classes at the Open Bench Project. I'm a weekly volunteer facilitator in a bereavement group at the Center for Grieving Children. I taught myself how to rewire my entire 2100 sq foot house and actually succeeded in doing it. I love challenging myself to do things that frighten or intimidate me. I believe the most important thing in life is to keep trying new things. My loves include sailing, skiing, rock climbing, spinning, traveling, reading, and experiencing all of the urban culture that Portland has to offer - restaurants, theater, art, craft breweries, local business, the people. I am happy to share my connections in Portland with people who are considering transitioning here. Just ask me what you want to know!

During your stay
I'm only as interactive as you'd like me to be. I am always available day or night for emergencies, or just general questions about the apartment and Portland. But I mostly stay out of your way. Though I like to greet guests if and when possible, it's very common for guests to come and go without ever seeing me. I set things up so that you can access the apartment without me being present. That way you are not beholden to my schedule for arriving and departing. However, if you ever have any difficulty or trouble getting in, I'm always available and can be there within minutes.
