Morningstone is a masterwork mosaic of places we have loved: European castles, Cotswold stone, Mediterranean stairways & arches, and Guatemalan courtyards, all set among indigenous plantings, orchard, and gardens. Greg wondered, “What could one man build with his own hands?” So, he cut & set each stone. Sawed & shaped trees. Forged & hammered iron. Three self-contained suites wait to welcome you, each with a private entrance, oceanfront balcony, and just steps down to a sandy beach with kayaks.

The space
Oceanfront 1 is one of three suites at Morningstone (see also Oceanfront 2 and 3). It has an ocean-view tumbled stone shower, queen-sized bed with goose-down duvet and pillows, dining table and chairs, an easy chair, books and games. The private Juliet balcony has a table and chairs overlooking the sea. Kitchenette is well-equipped with fridge, toaster, microwave, kettle, and French press coffee maker. Provisions for breakfast on your first morning include fruit, granola & milk, homemade bread, butter & jam, coffee, tea and cream. Heated stone floors keep the room snug and warm in cooler weather. Sleeping mats for additional guests are available.

Beach access, courtyard, outdoor gardens and seating areas with lounge chairs, and a large propane barbeque with utensils are available to guests.

During your stay
We are on the property, reachable by text. Greg always has a new stone project on the go and you are welcome to hang around and watch. This summer's project? A stone where-cote.

FERRIES
B.C. Ferries vehicle reservations (online) between Tsawwassen and Mayne are highly recommended year 'round and foot/bicycle passengers during the high season and long weekends. It is important to make ferry reservations concurrently with B&B reservations.

We are Dorothy and Greg, 47 years married, and grandparents to seven. When our children were young, we traveled through Central America, Europe, North Africa and Turkey in a tiny-home-on-wheels. Morningstone reflects the many places and stories we have loved. Greg still builds with stone. Retired from university teaching, Dorothy swims year-round in the sea, is writing a history of Village Bay, and is restoring indigenous plants to the land.
