Welcome to Sunning Hill!

A beautiful escape right in the heart of Ontario's Muskoka region. We are less than two hours from Toronto, but when you arrive at our island, you'll be worlds away from the city bustle.

The space

The property features two buildings; the main cottage and the boathouse. The main cottage has three bedrooms and one washroom, featuring a private entrance for the master bedroom.

Cozy and comfortable, the kitchen and living area will provide anything you might need for a relaxing retreat with friends or family.

The boathouse is right on the water, featuring a mini-bar and full-size fridge and freezer.

Guest access

Sitting on two-acres of land and overlooking gorgeous 6-Mile Lake, we encourage our guests to get outside and enjoy the sounds of loon calls from the end of the dock.

For summer 2017, we are accepting week-long (7 day) bookings only from June 6th through Labour Day weekend (Sept 5th). Weekend and week day rentals (min 2 nights) will be available in Spring and Fall.

We have canoes on site and can arrange for up to three kayaks to be available as well. We have a ping pong table in the bunky and loads of board games.

Please bring your own towels and linens. If you need an exception made to this rule, please let us know and we can discuss.

Please note: our check-in time is between 2pm and 7pm. In May and June, any check-ins after 7pm will cost $40.00 as we need to hire a ride for your group.

Interaction with guests

Once you confirm your booking, we will send you our complete Cottage Guide, outlining all the amenities and details of the cottage itself.

We will meet you at the government landing upon arrival, bring you to the cottage and give you a tour of the property. Please refer above to the check-in policy.

Throughout your stay, we are available by phone and text. Neil's parents, Paul and Robbie, live across the bay year-round. Should you need anything at all, they will also be able to help out.

Other things to note

Our cottage has clean drinking water - no need to bring your own. There is a special faucet for drinking water in the kitchen next to the sink.

We do not charge our guests a cleaning fee. We ask that you leave the cottage the way you found it per the community rules. Cleaning supplies are provided and replenished between guests.

Perfect spot for our family getaway - great communication leading up to the weekend, cozy cabin with lots of land for our dogs to run free, and a great dock space to post up for an afternoon by the water. Not to mention a beautifully crafted outhouse in the woods when you want some peace and quiet!

Had a great week at Andrea and Neil's cottage. Very relaxed atmosphere, lounging on the deck or the dock, paddling in the lake. Comfortable accommodations, exceptional location. Will definitely be interested in coming back.

What an amazing time we had at Neil and Andrea's cottage. This our second year at the cottaging in this location. The cottage was clean and tidy when we arrived. The location is beautiful, quite private and very relaxing. The kids had enough activities to keep them busy. There is lots to do: swimming, canoeing kayaking, ping pong and board games if you experience rainy days. Check-in was smooth. Neil was very easy to work with when we needed to arrange boat transportation for guests who arrived a few days later. I highly recommend a stay at this cottage.

I want to thank Neil and Andrea for opening up their cottage so that others might enjoy this idyllic setting. All of us had a great time on the water - swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddling and fishing. The muskoka chairs on the dock were super comfy and perfect for relaxing in and reading - which we did in between our other activities. There are lots of board games available at the cottage so there was no need to bring any with us. Neil was so friendly and promptly answered any questions we had. We had an opportunity to meet some of Neil and Andrea's neighbours who were also very friendly. Our only regret was that our week went by so quickly. I would highly recommend this place.

Perfect Canadian cottage in an idyllic setting. Had a fantastic week with the kids, who loved swimming all day. It takes some planning to stay longer than a couple of days, as its pretty expensive to get to shore at $40 a trip, especially if you have kids. But overall a great trip

This is a beautiful, cozy cottage located on an island in Six Mile Lake. Its the perfect summer getaway from the city where you can relax and unwind. The cottage has a lovely big open dock where you can lounge or dive straight into the water. Neil was an amazing host and was fully available whenever we had questions and needed help. He kindly offered us access to his canoes, a kayak and even a paddleboat which allowed us to explore different parts of the lake and access the marina when needed. I highly recommend Neil's cottage and would love to return again.

Beautiful spot right in the lake! We had a great time. Expect a simple furnished wooden house at a great place. Neil arranged the water-taxi which were perfect on time. Very easy and good communication with Neil!
