Beautiful cabin in private mountain community, perched in the trees with mountain views and short walk to the Shenandoah River.

The space
The "Treehouse" is an A-frame cabin sitting on a hillside, surrounded by trees. When you are sitting in the house or on its huge deck, it feels as if you are perched in the trees.

It is a one-room cabin, with loft and large exterior deck. The first floor is an open area, with living room, full kitchen and eating area, and bathroom. The second floor is a loft, accessible by ladder. There is a double bed on the loft and two double futons and one single (kid-sized) futon on the main level.

Linens and towels:
We ask that guests bring linens, if they are able to do that easily. We do not have laundry facilities onsite, so doing laundry is a high cost we want to avoid having to pass onto guests (approx 2hours at laundromat @$20 hour and cost of laundromat approx $10). We do have sheets and towels available for those that need them — just let us know in advance and we will make sure to have them available for you.

Guest access
Also available at the Treehouse:
* hammock
* fire pit
* kayaks (2)

NOTE: Guests need to transport kayaks to the river. The Treehouse is a short walk from the river (about 1/4 mile).
Due to insurance restrictions, we can no longer provide tubes for guests (we are sorry about this because we love tubing! Guests, of course, can bring their own tubes and can float at their own risk — we just are not allowed to provide the tubes)
If you want to kayak *down* a short stretch of the river, the perfect put-in is 1 mile *up* the road, which allows you to paddle down a beautiful stretch of river which is largely calm but with short stretch of rapids (which keeps it a bit exciting), and then exit right by the road to the Treehouse.

For kayaking, please keep in mind that moving between put-in and take-out locations is difficult without two vehicles (some guests have handled this situation with one vehicle and a bicycle). We can provide a map of public put-in access areas along the South Fork of the Shenandoah River, just ask.

Other things to note
The Treehouse is a great location for activities year-round. It offers easy access to many local activities and destinations, including:
* Spring, Summer, and Fall -- hiking, boating, fishing, tubing, Skyline Drive, winery touring, horseback riding, etc.
* Winter -- hiking, Massanutten Ski Resort and Water Park (20 miles)

And, of course, Luray Caverns is a must-see destination regardless of the time of year.

Cancellation policy:
The Treehouse follows Airbnb's "strict" cancellation policy. In the event of cancellation, the dates will be made immediately available for new bookings. Full refunds will be given for whatever portion of the cancelled period is re-booked by other guests.

During your stay
We do not live in Shenandoah, although we are there most weekends (staying in our other cabin about three miles from the Treehouse).

Our house manager lives locally, regularly monitors the property, and can be available for issues needing immediate attention.

As the time nears for your visit, we will send you information about how to access the Treehouse (key, etc.).
