Modern apartment on a beautiful landmark block in Brownstone Brooklyn, close to the subway and a short ride from midtown Manhattan.

The space

This apartment comprises the two lower floors of a Victorian brownstone with a separate entrance from the private apartment on the upper two floors. It was completely gut renovated a few years ago and everything is new and modern inside. It has two bedrooms on the lower floor and a full bathroom (w/roll-in shower). The back bedroom has two single beds. The front bedroom has a single day bed with an additional trundle that pulls out and pops up to make a second single bed. Additionally in the living room there is a queen size ('double') sofa bed which is quite comfortable for two people sharing.
There is also a large open kitchen on the upper floor with modern appliances and a full bathroom (w/bath).
The apartment central air conditioning for those hot summer days.

Guests are welcome to use the large back yard and barbecue for outdoor dining.

My family and I live in the house next to the apartment, so we will be on hand for check in, check out, but you will have complete independence and privacy. There is a shared back yard and porch that runs between the two houses. You are welcome to use the back yard should you wish.

The F and G lines on the subway are just a block away. It takes less than 30 minutes to midtown Manhattan.

The beautiful neighborhood streets of Carroll Gardens and the proximity to the city (just 30 mins to midtown). The numerous stores, bars and small restaurants. Smith Street is 'Restaurant Row' in Brooklyn and is just steps away from the house. There is so much to do in the neighborhood it is a quiet respite from the frenzy of Manhattan.

Nice location; very close to the train station and just a couple of train stops from Manhattan. Beautiful home with awesome dining table on the back patio.

Angus's home was a dream. I live in the area, but needed more space for family visiting, ideally with a backyard to grill, close to a subway and minimal stairs for my dad. This house was a perfect solution. The hosts were communicative, and around if needed. The house was clean and turn key. My family felt right at home and it allowed us/them to enjoy a week in NYC as if they lived here. I cannot say enough to illustrate how wonderful the time with my family was spent because this home was so accessible and affordable!

Response from Angus:
Thanks for this note. Good point about the Citi bikes, I will add that into the book. Glad your family had such a great stay. All best, Angus

I stayed at Angus's place for a week with my nanny, two small children and partner. There was plenty of space for all of us and the upstairs living room was clean and comfortable. Carroll Gardens, in my opinion, is the best neighborhood in NYC. Highly recommended.

Great trip had by all. Fantastic host who made us feel very welcome and was quick and informative in all correspondence before and during trip. Apartment is in a street near to great local bars and restaurants and on a tree lined street, which is so quiet at night so you get great sleep. F subway station was just off end of the street, which gave us an easy 30 min max trip to the city, so consider Carroll Gardens as an alternative to staying in Manhattan, especially using weekly metro card. Apartment is as described but felt bigger and we all had our own space. Downstairs floor has good size twin room to front and very large twin room to rear, with adjoining laundry which is great. A large bathroom with walk in shower is between these rooms. Everything we needed e.g. toilet roll, detergent, spices, guidebooks was provided. Upstairs is large open living/dining/kitchen space with sofa bed, plus another shower room. The outside space was added bonus and place to cool off after hot day in city. We cannot recommend enough as area has so much going on. Check out Brooklyn too as so many good things to do there. Felt like home from home. Thanks Angus and family

This was the first time we have used airbnb. Angus was very quick in answering any questions. Apartment was just as described. First few days were busy going in to Manhattan. New ferry from Atlantic Ave. Takes you into wall st and near 9/11 memorial. Near apartment is good to. Got to speak to Angus,s family whilst there who were great. Don't hesitate to book. We are going back for a couple of days before we leave US. Wish I could book back in with Angus.

Our group of five had a great stay. Angus was great about communicating with us prior to arrival to be sure our check-in when smoothly. The kitchen is very well equipped. Both bathrooms are large for the location. A very nice washer and dryer are on premises.

I am a publishing professional model from the UK, quite some years ago. I have a great small dog named Roscoe, who we rescued from the pound. I am addicted to good coffee and NPR . . . love reading, of course, and meeting new people and spending time with friends. We are extremely lucky to live where we do. Brooklyn is a special slice of New York and we are excited for visitors to discover it's many charms.
